Required GPU

Hey All you lovely people.

I want to run wow on my 4k TV and I was wondering what sort of GPU do I need?

I don’t plan on breaking and records, just run of the mill casual stuff. Mythic dungeons, questing and the occasional LFR.

I assume i’ll need an RTX model, so will I need a
2060
2060 Super
2070
2070 Super
2080
2080 Super
2080 ti

I am hoping that I can get away with a 2070.

I will be coupling this with a Ryzen 3600, 3600x or 3700x I have decided yet.

Any of those cards can handle WoW at 4k.
Higher end cards will give you better performance/longevity.

Ryzen 5 3600 is more than enough for 4k, the additional 2cores/4threads can have some benefits, but if all you’re looking is WoW, then money can be spent else where IMO.

Really! Wow. Have to say I am pretty surprised.

I was expecting that I would have to get at least a 2080 coupled with a 3700x or above.

Shaves a lot off the price of a new PC

Well what’s you budget? If you don’t have one just get a 2080ti and don’t worry about it.

my budget is $3000 for everything (buying it all new)

I also need to add I live in Australia so that’s Australian prices not, US prices. A 2080ti here costs anywhere from $1800 to $2200 so that’s not really on the list.
there is even one that’s $3899!!

But yes, I would love one, but the best I can probably get to is going to be a 2080. Doubt the 2080 super is going to be possible considering how much higher the 2070 supers were in price compared to a normal 2070.

A RTX 2060 super will be fine for running wow at 4k on a TV.

Two 1070s in SLI and two 2080s in SLI. Both setups at 60 FPS and 4k–and they can rock it, for what it’s worth. The 2080s can handle it with no stutter or tearing, not even the slightest hiccup–no surprises there. The 1070s? A bit of occasional, hard to see tearing, and some stutter. Try Amazon US, they can ship to you in the Land Down Under. Or try Ebay. If it were me, I might get one 2080ti with your budget. Or two 2070 Supers in SLI. If you do SLI, I’d get blower cards. 2k is a good budget for that setup if you shop around. Good luck.

I’d love to live in Australia. Where Help Desk makes 27/hr starting, teachers make 60k+ starting and the minimum wage is more than double ours. At a cost of 1.5 times more expensive stuff!

1660 TI might not be a bad choice either. A Vega 56 will also do 4K fine but at more power consumption.

Looking on that site Umart prices arent that much different for videocards then here in Canada. I would look at 2070+ or rx 5700xt for cheapest option but would wait for a dual fan card rather then blower.

Lol don’t listen to this guy I have a MSI gaming Trio X 2080 and a i7 8700k I play at 1440p and get any ware from 70-130fps in BFA open world zones. The worst performance I got was around 45fps during a world boss fight in Nazjatar with 40 players. If your going 4k that will take a significant dent fps wise. Alot of 4k tvs are only 60hz which means you won’t benefit from frames above 60. The RTX 2080Ti is the right card for this job anything less and you will get subpar performance.

His scope of activity doesn’t need a 2080 TI.

A 2080 TI will be either overkill or underpowered in situations like TM.

I play 4k on a 43 inch screen with a 2700x and Vega frontier (similar of rtx 2070)

I get great fps in open world and raiding, at the least 45 fps at raiding and 60+ everywhere else

It’s not the hardware it’s how the game is and you can’t change it no matter how much you spend

1080p 2060 or 2060 super
4k 2070 or 2070 super

There really is no need for 2080 / 2080 super in WoW unless you play other games that are GPU intensive … WoW is CPU intensive so spend your money there and if you go with an i7 9700k or i7 9900k get a high end motherboard, your FPS will thank you!
