Request to make lockboxes BoP

For far too long have we rogues been at the mercy of a certain type of player. You know that player. The one with an alt of every class, the type of person that has every profession represented amongst their characters. Before the days of people having many alts, we rogues used to be one of the few sources of sustainable, energy-efficient lockpicking in Azeroth. Having to train for hours to hone our craft so that we could more effectively serve the community was one of our deepest desires. And you knew that with each opening that there was pride and love for the job. Sure you had blacksmiths and engineers be able to do the job for us but that always required dangerous and wasteful means to do what could have been done more simply. Our methods were straightforward and all we cared for was a kind tip for our services. Services that essentially were no different than the portals your friendly neighborhood mage could have provided (with a tip of course).

With 8.1.5’s streamlining and centralization of portals in order to facilitate a world that feels more open. And the justification that this would in turn make mages (and warlocks to a lesser extent) more vital to travel. I can only sit here in awe, and wonder how my kind could be so overlooked. Because you see, as I’ve said in the beginning there exists a type of player these days that does not at all care about their impact on the economy. And that is the altoholic. These self-sufficient people seek only to isolate themselves from the greater community. Essentially trying to play a single player mode in a multi-player world. This disgusts me. And these people have the nerve to roll rogues. Rogues who sadly only intend to serve one purpose. And that is to receive lockboxes in the mail so they can be picked. I can’t imagine no worse of a life, even for a digital character.

And that is why I propose that lockboxes be changed to BoP items. Why? Well you can’t just delete these fake rogues and their utility from the game. As such, in order to bring about a return to form of the good old days, soulbound lockboxes would require you to communicate with an actual rogue so that you can get your problem fixed! As I said, a service essentially no different from asking a mage for a port. I think of it as a good change because it will require people to actually communicate with one another. An aspect of this game that we so desperately need now.

Please blizzard for all that is reasonable, please extend an olive branch to the much maligned rogue community. We are struggling here. We already suffer enough by being limited to that of a pure dps wielding just meek daggers and shoddy swords. Even though we would love to take one for the team and evasion tank like the good old days. We weep when our pots stay full as our fellow friends die. We have suffered enough injustice already after being forced to stand idle in Dalaran because we didn’t have an order hall. Don’t take this away from us, do the right thing.

Make rogues great again.

Or just delete the box so I don’t have to travel into the filth of Trade Chat and try to find a rogue. You can blame the fact that I have a rogue on the inability of Blizzard to moderate and ban people from the game when they can’t have civil discourse within the game.

Does current content even drop lockboxes at any time?

I can’t even be bothered to send the lock boxes to my own rogue… they are mostly an annoyance because there isn’t anything decent in them and they don’t even exist in BfA content

Yup, this exactly. ^

I’ve mained a rogue since the when we actually had to level our lock picking… No… I don’t want random whispers to unlock boxes for people that don’t/won’t tip… I’d rather do my thing. and as Jessail said, I can’t even be bothered to send them from my alts to my main… Now if we actually had box drops in current content I’d might reconsider… but at this point it is more trouble than it is worth.

But they would have to make another way to gain Rep with Ravenholt and let’s be honest they won’t do that.

Just vendor it and ignore whsipers. :man_shrugging:

Oh boy more pointless changes they’ll likely listen to rather than fix real problems.

They must have really forgotten about lockpicking, so much so that BfA doesn’t even have lock boxes.

No they wanted to cut down on gold, rogues were making bank last expac from pickpocketing. So they made both it and lockpicking useless except for tol dagor.

Pickpocketing =/= Lockboxes especially when only rogues can pickpocket, but everyone can loot lockboxes. Your logic doesn’t make sense.

You are correct! They are not directly equivalent. But they go together hand and hand and blizz didn’t want to repeat the pickpocketing adventures of rogues in legion and WOD. So instead grifta is now getting people on the hivemind mount instead of fencing for rogues and lockpicking is a thing that is occasionally randomly useful if a dev remembered to set the flag.

What I’m trying to say is that without pickpocketing no attention was paid to lockpicking either because there wasn’t much point.

Lockboxes? Man I don’t remember the last time I unlocked one of those. Been vendoring them straight up for years. Ain’t no one got the time for that garbage.

Wow. That is a lot of wasted words.

Judging by the responses here, I can safely guess that nobody figured that this was a joke (this is an alt used for opening lockboxes). Jeez tough crowd.
