One of the biggest things that I think Blizzard is really dropping the ball on is customization. In addition to the often made requests for more hair / face / eye-color options for all races, a player’s avatar needs to feel like “their” unique representation in the game of themselves.
Current Class / Spells work great for ‘bases’, but I think it’s worth it for players to be able to branch out and tailor their spells to suit their tastes much like we see NPCs do. It would reduce a great deal of the generic feel classes often have and I think solve more than people realize. A player wants 3 things when they play.
1.) Abilities that look cool.
2.) Abilities that feel impactful.
3.) Abilities and a character that feels like an extension of them.
Because of that, and the fact that all spells / effects are in many ways variants of similar schools I think it would be worthwhile for Blizzard to create a second transmogrification tab devoted to various spells where we could change our abilities to cast with chosen animations.
For a example, lets say you play a Orc Warlock but you want your character to be a more Necromancy oriented Necrolyte etc. You go to the Transmogger, and you can change your Imp into a Skeletal Mage, or your Incinerate into a pale blue green variant of it’s current spell.
Alternatively, maybe your a Hunter and you like the Sylvanas theme. So you can go to the Transmogger and change your Arcane Shot into a Black Arrow styled attack.
Mages could change their Frost spells into water variants for folks who like the concept of Tide Sages, or even use Frostfire for some of their effects depending on their tastes.
Holy Priests could change their Light spells into a more spirit / light blue wisp like spell effect, which is seen by Tyrande and sometimes by Talanji. Or maybe they want to play a Tide Priest so they use a type of healing water spell effect during their casts, while their shadow spells employ a shadowy water effect.
Shamans could also benefit by shifting their water spells into a dark red tinted Blood magic for healing, or perhaps throw some of Magatha Grimtotem’s Shadow Lava / Shadow Lightning spells; if they jelled on the Dark Shaman concept.
The point I’m making is that such a system would be a major improvement to the game, and I think would be worthwhile as it would make the relationship between the player and their avatar that much more profound. This in turn would make players less eager to throw their toons aside, especially if new techniques could be found or acquired via rep and gameplay.
Anyways, that’s my suggestion for the future of WoW. Thoughts?
