[Request] New animated emotes

Our character models have so many interesting animations, yet so few of them are available via emotes. WoW has always been a social experience, and lately Blizzard has done some efforts (like new customization) to allow players to express themselves, so why not enable more animated emotes using existing animations?

By that, I mean emotes like /dance, /fear or /sleep, in which your character plays a certain animation until you move or do some other action. They don’t need to have emote lines in the chat windows, just playing the animation (and other players being able to see it) would be more than awesome.

That would be great for interaction, roleplaying and screenshots!

Some of the possibilities:

/combat, /battle or /danger

Your character draws its current weapon(s) and plays the combat ready animation (just as if you right-clicked a mob out of your range).

/brawl or /fistfight

Your character sheaths his weapons (if drawn and out of combat) and plays the unarmed combat ready animation.

/sneak, /stalk or /stealth

Your character plays the sneaking/stealth standing animation

/dizzy, /dazed or /stunned

Your character plays the stunned/dazed animation.

/standguard, /guard

Your character plays the NPC guard stance in which he/she is ready to draw his weapon.

/weapon, /weaponready or /guardready

You character plays the animation of guards with weapons ready that you see NPC doing around. There’s different animations for two-handed weapons and weapon/shield, but I couldn’t find any NPC doing the later.

/salutelong or /longsalute

Your character plays the /salute animation, but it freezes mid-salute and you stay in that position.

/showweapon or /artifact

Your character shows its weapons, using the animation from Legion artifact, according to the types of weapons equiped (dual-wielding, weapon/shield, two-handed, and so on).

/castmage, /castpriest, /castdruid and /castwarlock

Your character plays the right-click combat animation for the specified class.

Other possibilities

There’s some other animations out there that may have issues with implementation, like NPCs leaning their backs against the wall, or leaning towards tables, or cleaning the floor, or the second dance available for humans. It would be awesome if Blizzard could somehow make them available for players.

Conclusion

So, what do you think? It’s not a big deal, but the game has grown so much since the early days, there’s so many cool animations already implemented, but our emote options have barely changed since Vanilla.

It’s not like this would cost us a raid tier, right? Right?

Please, please, please!!!

This is actually a very good idea and post. Nice OP :+1: from me

You are right. Great post, i can get behind this for sure. I like all the examples you have brought up, very nicely done.

As a side note, personally i would like to see us get to choose our fighting animation rotations instead of them being locked by class. There used to be a different flavor for each race and i get that there are too many races for each to have all their own animations but it seems to me there are plenty of options available and they could add more over time for us to choose animations for our characters attack moves. Perhaps even turn it into a gold sink with us training every time we might want to change our animations for attack moves or defensive moves etc. etc. etc…

Just my 2 cents.

While I agree with all of this, I don’t think they would consider this specific one because they gave us a toy that does it.

Yeah…a toy. With the usual obscene and unnecessary CD…

Yep, I used that toy for the screenshots. It’s full of bugs, however: the animation is based on spec and not equiped weapons, and it fails to play if you are not using the right weapon type for your current spec. It also has a casting timer and horrid 5-minute CD. And it casts a beam of light over you.

Blizzard has been a little more open to granting us cosmetic stuff lately, thought (you know, declining subscriptions, crashing-and-burning lore and long uninteresting expansion does wonders to make them more willing to appease us in other ways).

Signing this!

It shouldn’t be hard to make short animations for some of the existing emotes that are without animations.

For example
/fart - waving hand in front of face.

they will never make that /fart emote because people will use it for toxicity lol

Stuff like this has been suggested for years, and can only hope it actually happens one day :open_mouth:

They already do, even without it having an animation.
I mean, they’re even using /sit to ‘teabag’ people. toxic people will be toxic people.

Funny enough, I think if they just added the /no emote to /fart it would be pretty fitting for at least a few races, lol.

What about the toy that replicates the /artifact emote?

I talked about it a bit earlier, there’s some problems with it.

Yeah i totally agree. We need more animations and customizations

I support your idea.
We also should be able to pick our dance, sit, cast and mount riding animations.
Meaning if I wanted, I could sit like a human. Or I could cast like a night elf.

This would be really cool, indeed!

My suggestions above are meant to be easy to implement. They are all existing animations. But if Blizzard went the extra mile and allowed us to customize even further our animations? That would be awesome. Each character would have its own personality!

I personally despise the belf/velf sitting animations and I don’t like the dance either.
I think we need new mount animations because they’re outdated and don’t make sense. (why am I not sitting elegantly on the mount with both legs on one side, while wearing a dress?)

I do agree that the belf/velf sitting animation is wonky. I’d love to swap that with some other race’s.

Some real-life dresses allow for normal riding, but yeah, having the option would be nice. This is the kind of thing I think Blizzard will avoid doing. Maybe if they do simpler stuff and it’s well-received they will be more open to try animation customization.

That Belf picture in the OP is so cute.
Also, got my vote. More options, good.
