Explain the Lore that would allow a Dracthyr to become a druid? The Black Dragonflight is the flight of Earth and the Dracthyr are a creation of Neferian. So they do have a convoluted path on the surface.
But beyond that what lore do that have that would fit with a druid? The classes they are getting are all based. Warrior,Mage,Priest,Rogue,Lock they are all easily taught to someone who wants to know with no prerequisite other than wanting the information. For a druid there is more lore involved in which races and why they can play as druid.
For example, it’s established in Lore (albeit old lore so perhaps its phases out) that before the humans banded together under Thoridin during the Troll Wars, many humans practices crude forms of druidism. So they have a base in the actual class lore and still are unable to play as them to this day.
It’s more impressive Blizz has resisted the temptation to allow Dracthyr and Earthen to be DK’s. Because if we look at most of the allied races it doesn’t make sense for most of them to be DK other than fans wanted it. And Dracthyr being restricted is a sign Blizz is trying to go back to class/race restrictions based on Lore and that’s how it should be. Not everyone should be able to do everything. The games a game of inclusion at its core, so why make it to where you can fill an entire raid group with a single race? That wasn’t any fun when it was forced to happen for World First.

Probably will happen, it’s just likely going to be after Paladins and Shamans become available to all races since they have to make way more assets for Druids.
They can learn from Ysera or Merithra or any member of the Green Dragonflight. Evoker’s can already commune with the Emerald Dream through Emerald Communion and half a dozen other Preservation abilities. Seems much less of a leap to Druid than it is to Warlock.

They already have a connection to the Emerald Dream, which is why evoker is the only class other than druid that uses Dream magic. It wouldn’t be a stretch for it to turn out that they can build off that connection to learn real druidism, and it would arguably make more sense than belves and nightborne getting druids because of a one-off dungeon boss from TBC and a one-off raid boss from Legion.

I didn’t know presVokers had that connection. But to the point, this is PresVokers not Dracthyr. The Dracthyr must choose to become an Evoker and then on top of that choose to be a Preservation Evoker to gain access to this communion. Far removed from Dracthyr and thus not allowing a… Smooth… Connection between Dracthyr and Druids.
But, it’s enough that most fans wouldn’t have a problem with it. They could say something like PresVokers are the trainers for Druid Dracthyr. They must commune with the Emerald Dream with the help of a PresVoker in order to learn Druidism.
Edit to answer Eadwyrd, it’s also well established in Lore that there are not prerequisites to become a Warlock. Other than being at least slightly evil and willing to use Dark Magic. And Deathwing proved that the Black Dragonflight have a propensity to take any power boosts they can find. Wrathion and Sabellian are trying to get the flight away from that a bit, but that lore has already been established, and the Dracthyr being creations of Deathwing they would hold morals closer to his than Wrathion’s unless they made the conscious decision to follow the new flight.
I don’t think even full fledged green dragons have ever shown the capability to shapeshift like a druid, only between dragon and visage form. Dracthyr being only 1/5th green dragon doesn’t help much in that case.

Monk Dracthyr too, the glide speed is being nerfed and no hover for non evokers so I don’t see the problem why they can’t be druids or monks.
We have the green dragonflight to teach the Dracthyr druidism and many monk masters to teach them the way of the monk

I agree with this but I also strongly disagree with them giving NPCs access to race/class combos they do not intend players to ever access. If we’re supposed to be heroes, we should be able to do whatever some NPC can do.
It was a mistake to add those NPCs. It was a mistake to add a Void Elf paladin, but there is one. Now that they have, it is less egregious to let us have them than not.
I have zero problem with this philosophy as long as they stop showing us NPCs with certain combos.
They just learn to be a druid. It’s really not that difficult. Micromanagers just want to limit class designs because that’s actual work meanwhile they choose to be lazy and rather we just accept their cookie cutter waterfall garbage design.
I think Blizzard’s waiting for another opportunity to make Druid forms for all the remaining races; Seeds of Renewal (10.2) was a chance to try some new types of forms (owl bears, cat raptors, big fish, and race-agnostic moonkin) to see the community reaction.
Explain any lore that plainly says X race can’t become Y class; it doesn’t exist. Undead were the only case, as Light magic burned them even when they themselves casted it but Blizzard ignored that all the way back in 2004 to allow Undead Priests.

That has nothing to do with what Dracthyr are.
They’re experiments created from dragonkin using the strengths of mortal races and the literal power of all five Aspects.
They embody every single dragonflight and their power.

Great points. I see lots of reasons why Dracthyr Druids are reasonable and very little of why the concept is unreasonable. Just to reiterate, Dracthyr already have a connection to the Emerald Dream.

Have fun wishing for things you’ll never get because you can’t accept what Blizz does. I’m incredibly happy, personally, that class/race restrictions are back.

I do not understand this negativity. I think there are strong lore reasons why Dracthyr Druids are reasonable and would be fun. They already have a connection to the Emerald Dream. I am only appealing for that connection to be expanded on, for one (logical) race to be added to the Druid roster. I am not appealing for every race to be able to be every class. I’m not sure why you’re being so antagonistic and starting drama for no reason.
