Request: Expulsom from Disenchanting

I have a request for the wow devs and I wasn’t sure where else to put this, so I figured I’d drop it here.

I was leveling my tailoring this morning and was browsing some of the patterns, and I noticed that expulsom is a material required for higher item level patterns. Problem is, I’m an enchanter as well as a tailor, so I don’t actually have any of that.

Would it be possible to allow expulsom to drop from disenchants as well as scrapping? Otherwise, it creates a pretty lousy ultimatum that other professions don’t face.

Please consider.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand I am an enchanter and I would love it, on the other hand they may need to add dust/shards/crystals as a possibility for non-enchanters for scrapping to make it fair.

They don’t need to add enchanting materials to the scrapper to make it fair. The scrapper provides profession mats for disenchanting, instead of enchanting mats.

It’s not like scrapping only provides expulsom.

Fair point!

Although I have felt your pain - Enchanters have a more difficult time than other professions because scrapping competes with shard creation - in the end it isn’t as bad as it seems.

My process: i skin 400 blood-stained bones to send to my LW who makes 100 items who sends them to my chanter who scraps (not DE, as they don’t return the valuable mats anyway) to get expulsons and I get 25 or so each of these runs.

Then I disenchant anything else I get on the chanter. That has been the most effective process for me.

This is what I do as well, except I’m a scribe so I make wands instead of bracers.

The problem is that Enchanting has to choose between disenchanting for materials they can’t live without, or scrapping for one material with few uses as an Enchanter while getting a truckload of materials one has no use for as an Enchanter.

My wife and I are both enchanters on our mains. As I have several more alts, I send her crafted items to scrap, so she can DE the ones she finds. This is an issue that I agree should be addressed. I’d like to see a way to either remove expulsom as a necessary material for enchanting designs or give us a way to “shatter” something into expulsom.

Until that happens, the only thing I can offer is to make sure you scrap all trinkets. Doing WQ’s for trinkets helps a bit.

No. Enchanters can already created expulsom, then don’t need to be able to get it from disenchanting as well - that would make them too good.

No. Enchanters can convert raid material into Expulsom.

They can’t give either material to others, and it’s a very high cost for a low return.

I had 3 enchanters and I actually don’t find I am getting materials I can’t use. Most people with tailors have them on their cloth characters and have enchanting paired with that. Scrapping cloth gear gives you cloth mats that your tailor can use.

And so - no one can give expulsom to others.

More Expulsom is needed period. It’s not like Season 2 isn’t introducing YET ANOTHER soulbound crafting mat that must be farmed from raids and Mythic dungeons before you can craft any of that shiny new gear. How many soulbound craft mats are there in BfA again?

  1. Expulsom

  2. Hydrocore

  3. Sanguicell

  4. (Coming Soon®) Tidalcore

Did I miss any? How many will it be in 8.3?

world quest give expulsom - as far as I am concerned it is actually too easy to get now.

Saying most people have those paired is a presumption. Even if it is true, that’s only 1/3, and at that point that’s only one aspect of what I said that changes- it still would become a contest between scrapping for Ex and disenchanting for Enchanting materials, so… You’re not wrong about that one particular thing, it just so happens that that one aspect really doesn’t change much.

That’s my point. It might be more of a problem if Ex was tradable, but it isn’t.

Not everything needs to take a month and a half, and the material is already old- it’s just going to get older when the next raid release hits.

Lol, I’ve seen ONE WQ that offers 5 Expulsom and I’ve only seen it ONCE since 8.1 went live.

Ya, it’s positively raining Expulsom

Agreed. Scrapper feels redundant when you’re an Enchanter :\ Let the scrapper have a chance to drop dust for everyone else, and let Expulsom be attainable when we DE.

Cause in the meanwhile, stuff like Expulsom is a pain to get. And the raid mat conversion is far too steep.

That or, ya know, take that damned BoP tag off the mats. What good is crafting, afterall, if by the time you manage to get the mats everything else around you is better? Because it’s not like we get unique transmog looks out of it either. (Which, given they ditched tier sets for generic role gear, there should have been plenty of room for!)

It really isn’t a problem. You just don’t get to double dip as much as you used to in previous expansions having two crafting professions.

What is this one month and a half bit - I started leveling up a tailor/enchanter on another server last night and they already have all the tailoring patterns - it takes less than an hour.

All of these soulbound mats are making every profession a money pit. You spend 50k gold leveling them only to realize that the mats used to create the items are actually selling for a bit more than the items they make, coupled with the fact that by the time you farm up enough “special material #3704” to create an item to sell the price has cratered for that item and it isn’t worth making anymore.

And Engineering will continue to get the shaft in Season 2, as they will be locked to creating i385 gear while everyone else crafts i415 gear.
