[Request] - Classic+ Oceanic Server

Hello,

Quick post for fellow aussies there has been speculation of a potential classic+ announcement at blizzcon so better safe than sorry.

For anyone who quit or is not happy with NA servers and want the chance to play with your own communities again.

Bro, from what I’ve seen, the people advocating for AU servers are trolling yourselves. There have never been long-lived healthy Australian region Classic servers.

C’mon… you calling someone a troll based on the number of posts they have, but not based on the merit of their post?

When have Australian servers survived long enough for them to have ever made sense? People beg for transfers. Look at the most recent iteration of Anniversary, as the most recent example.

Advocating for AUS servers that also remain on the US subscription is just not going to work out. We’ve seen this enough that this is a fairly reasonable claim.

Perhaps an AUS region with a separate subscription would cause enough people to opt for that. I’m skeptical, but I’d prefer that to having AUS players make noise on US forums, when we have seen this play out so many times…

You should touch up on the history of OCE and read the linked post then.

Have a good day sir

Should I?

How about you elaborate on the state of any OCE server on Classic Era, Sod, HC, Anniversary, or MoP?

And let us all know what that tells us about how much OCE should have its own dedicated servers…

I don’t think you have a leg to stand on here. Aus players should just get off of US forums, and stop asking for handouts.

Easier to not engage with forum trolls and use the ignore feature instead.

Then don’t. Go post on the AUS forums.

Snipy has openly said he sides with frostfire

If you support our call for oce servers (theyve been viable in retail for more than a decade) then we will happily get off US forums.

Ahh Elron is back. Didn’t work in ERA/SoM/SoD/Anni. OCE servers will never work as the player base is too split to make it work. Not everyone wants the grief fest that is a pvp server. The pvp Andy’s refuse a pve server (Anni showed this), your linked post is asking for a pvp server. The only way this could work is with a warmode style server so we can all share instances and raids. But this idea was vehemently opposed by the “just pvp server” bro’s.

Looks like another whinge post about not being allowed to flounder.

It is irrespocible for blizzard to offer an OCE server if they are unable to house both pvp and pve player on a single server and allow both game mode simultaniously.

Remember when you were on a dead pve server crying for transfers while the PVP server still had an active healthy population yeah me too.

PVP has historically ALWAYS been far more popular than the oce pve servers its not my fault you can’t pvp or learn how to play the game the only reason most people push for pvp is they know its the far more popular mode giving the highest chance for a successful server.

You already know this because you said exactly that

I personally don’t care if its pvp/pve or some mix of both the only thing i care about is we have 1 single server with the entire oceanic population combined and not split over 2 seperate servers and what options there are to make that somehow work.

The rest of the answers to w/e your yapping on about are in the original post.

you tried oce servers on anni already and they died by bwl launch

Completely wrong maladath was still running and had active raiding guilds all the way until the end of naxx with the population increasing as we got closer to TBC before blizzard moved the server to NA with 0 communication or notice and then opened transfers killing the server.

Unsure why NA players are so upset at the idea of OCE servers? It doesn’t hurt anyone (actually benefits NA players just as much as it does OCE players).

If classic+ ends up stagnating and the demand for oce servers dwindle 6 months in then sure, offer transfers to other realms and close the OCE servers, but it’d be a shame if they didn’t bother even offering them to begin with.

OCE players playing on NA servers does everyone a disservice, maybe if classic+ is way more casual (which is highly likely) then you can afford to play with 200-300ms with no major issues.

I can speak from experience as an arena player on classic & retail, and occasional mythic+ enjoyer as well, having a group with half NA and half OCE just means half the group (depending on the leader) is going to be on very high ping, and it just ruins the experience for everyone.

Why not give it a shot? If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.

Seeing so many NA players so passionately against it from the get go just seems unreasonably selfish to me, but maybe I’m missing something?

Funniest part is a lot of the time its actually OCE players who are sabotaging there own region and servers.

They try to convince OCE players to roll onto NA and keep repeating the same lie that the oceanic region can’t support one single server despite that being done numerous times.

The only thing that actually killed the oceanic servers was blizzard themselves with transfers or moving the entire server over to NA and it didn’t help having some of our own players sabotaging launch days for oce servers and encouraging people to play NA saying AU is dead on day 1.

All that needs to be done is to break the cycle of having the oceanic playerbase split between pvp/pve and playing on NA if they all just played on the one server it would be high pop and healthy throughout all phases and that’s pretty much what i am trying to do by getting in early and trying to get as many people onboard as possible.

It’s been tried multiple times and the servers become pretty much dead and only have like two active raiding guilds

I think the main reason it worked back in the day was;

  1. The game was way more popular back then.
  2. There was no rerolling/mega server culture like today.

We need to keep in mind that it’s not just OCE servers that die off, it’s literally 95% of all the servers become ghost towns and everyone just ends up on the same handful of servers and they all end up being 99% horde or 99% alliance. That’s just the way people seem to want to play the game nowadays and the only time this isn’t the case is when blizzard force lock one faction by capping it or force lock servers from being transferred to and from.

It’s only really a classic wow problem, you don’t see this stuff on retail. But even so, when an oceanic player queues into/with NA players the same thing happens, half the group is greifed with high ping, and if you’re playing high rated pvp or m+ the game is just ruined.

Also

3.There are far more iterations of wow now retail, mop, era, tbc, sod etc so further splits them even more.

If classic plus is hyped enough it could support an OCE server.
The original classic launch OCE PVP (Arugal) server had enough players to sustain it from vanilla all the way to the start of mists of Pandaria. While the PVE server (remulos) died after wrath of the lich king concluded.

SOD was also fine until sunken temple happened and seemingly killed the entire project for a while.

For classic plus I’m going to roll an OCE pvp server and hope blizzard doesn’t pull a sunken temple. Even if it dies down a bit I prefer servers with pops on the lower side because the bots seemingly leave, and inflation doesn’t hit the economy like a truck like we’re seeing on our TBC mega servers (20g haste pots anybody).

PVE OCE servers always seem to die well before the PVP server, so I’d say roll US server from the start if you intend to roll a PVE server.
