Currently working on an expansion concept (i.e. like GoldenYak’s numerous brilliant ideas), and I’m working on the reputation system.
Emissaries: Basically, you’d be able to choose one emissary a day out of every single faction. An emissary would have you fill up a progress bar by doing dailies/new world quest system/objectives. Instead of randomized ones, you choose whether you want to do different emissaries or if you want to power-level a reputation.
Dailies/World Quests: Beyond that, there’s still dailies in every single zone, alongside 1-2 world quests more like the world quests in Mechagon.
Earning Reputation in Dungeons: You can also earn reputation by donning a tabard at Revered and doing dungeons. You’ll pretty much be Revered by the time you’d finish the reputation quests, anyways.
Overgrowth/Decay: Much like Legion pre-launch assaults, an Overgrowth or Decay of a zone will either suffocate it with life or will cover it in a wave of death. You’ll need to:
Close the portal where the source of the Overgrowth/Decay is coming from.
Go around the zone and fill out your objective bar, burning the Overgrowth or Decay.
Kill the Elunarian/Mueh’zalan Commander.
This would tie in with the life/death theme I’m going for in the expansion. In terms of reputation, you can earn Paragon Tokens (which will be mentioned down below) and reputation/rewards from doing these assaults.
Paragon Tokens: Filling out Paragon reputation will reward all kinds of mounts, pets, toys, and maybe even a little extra reputation. It also always rewards Paragon Tokens. If you never get a mount from a Paragon box, you can save up Paragon Tokens from doing ANY reputation gaining action with a faction you’re Exalted with to purchase it. You can purchase:
Everything You Can Get From Paragon Boxes: Anything that has a random chance of dropping from Paragon Boxes can be bought with Paragon Tokens.
Faction Commendations/Bonuses: You can purchase permanent % bonuses for reputation gain with factions, as well as raw faction commendations that give reputation on the spot with Paragon Tokens.
Paragon boxes are evil, dailies is satan work and emissaries the ads for them. I’d rather at this point not have any of this, or timegate attached to them. If they do dailies it should be Firelands style with unlocks and story driven and only very few each day. And they should put back rep bonus for alts like in pandaria.
That’s why I’d also make it so it wouldn’t be time-gated. Earning reputation in this expansion would be way more natural, which would pretty much net you way more Paragon boxes and more Paragon Tokens so you always have a 100% way to get everything from a faction.
You can be done with a rep with the Paragon system ;/ it just takes longer, and it would take much less time with a definite way of getting these items
Anything that reduce the amount of time I care to do wqs is a win in my book. And youre basicly saying if the item were on the rep vendor we woudln’t have that problem, yes thats how it worked without paragon boxes.
Yeah, ik that, so I don’t really see the problem ;p. Obviously I wouldn’t bring back another artifact, so it’d be things like this that would be the only reason to get Paragon Tokens. Beyond that, you’d be done with it all if you wanted to pursue all of the items.
Let’s put it that way dailies are the worse content in the game. Sure you can enjoy them and that’s fine, I’m talking game design wise. They need to be atleast story driven to engage the player else there’s no point to them. Sadly, lot of them are jokes or even minigames that don’t make much sense.
I’d love to pick my Emissary, but the rewards would all have to be the same for that day or week.
Dailies/WQ are alright, I do like the Mechagon style stuff.
I really miss earning rep in dungeons. I also miss earning currency like valor points from dungeons to work up toward gear (heck, it can be like island expeditions too where we can get dungeon pets).
Overgrowth/decay seems like a fun idea! I’m not sure this would fit in with the current xpac or next, but I can definitely seeing this being a druid or shaman thing. Actually, why not have CLASS dailies/world quests? I’d like to see the continue use of Class Halls. They were great. I’d also like to see low levels have access to these Class Halls. They are very inspirational and for new players, seeing higher leveled characters of their class could help them out!
Paragon Tokens sounds great. I wouldn’t be opposed to receiving tokens if I never earn a mount/pet/toy in order to buy those items.
We need “mystery crates” that we purchase with money and it will have the chances of either a small amount of a random reputation in it or a very rare large boost to a random reputation.
