This has probably been requested since vanilla, but since it takes away from the joy of the game, it should be revisited. If we have ever earned an “exalted” reputation with a faction, that should be for the entire account, not per character. After changing from Alliance to Horde, it’s almost unreasonable to re-grind 17 years worth of work on my new characters.
I’m sure someone will probably say “transfer your character over that has most of your exalted reputations”. My response is “No”. I have an entire economy on both Alliance and Horde. The only issue is the reputations.
Potential Solutions:
Since this game is based on grinding, if we do end up making this ACCOUNT BASED, increase the total reputation needed to be exalted, and/or
If your account already has an “exalted” reputation, perhaps have a quest required in order to obtain the status on alt characters.
What are your thoughts or other potential solutions!
There shouldn’t be anything account-wide because you are playing a character, not an account.
If you are not willing to put in the time, effort and energy into an activity on a character, then you don’t deserve the rewards/accolades from it on that character.
Also, I actually enjoy the playing the game so I would prefer not having any more play time taken away from me, like having account-wide mounts, mog, ect does.
And I like to develop my characters separately so I prefer not having any more unearned, unwanted and unsuitable rewards available to them or accolades assigned to them.
It blows me away how many people playing a MMOPRG have, at best, no care or respect for the RP aspects of the game or, at worse, are actively so anti-RP that they try to sabotage it.
I think there needs to be a deeper discussion on this. I mean if the rep grind is something one needs to do to maximize their character, yeah, make it account wide, but if it’s just cosmetic fluff, leave it per character. Certain rewards could be made account wide as well without having to make the entire rep account wide is another option, especially for the ‘fluff’ reps.
Old reps, mostly, are the ones that have issues. Covenants just cut you off from randomly using a few things.
In Old Republic, the point of account wide rep is to earn it on all of your characters to work towards the end goal of that rep. There are weekly caps, but all characters contribute.
The only issue I have with this is my personal feeling of how illogical it would be.
And that is, why should my new level 20 toon approach a faction that character has never met before and be Exalted by them? I mean, Exalted means treated in a godlike manner. This toon is a total stranger, that faction doesnt know her at all. And yet she is Exalted?
It just doesnt make a lot of sense, logic-wise. I realise its a game but people are often complaining about the game’s story not being logical, and this would be anything but.
At least it’s just one title. There’s for sure room for improvement but at least it’s a lot less awful than it could be
Character specific titles are weird and definitely should get their own complaints imo, i hate how lady of war is character locked and nearly impossible to complete now
I also think profession recipes should be account wide as well if you have two characters that are jewelcrafters personally, like how legendary memories are learned across all your characters of the same class*
I don’t really like the sound of caps tbh
Maybe as an option like have all characters contribute or just one with no cap? I’d much rather run magisters terrace 45 times in a row to get whatever i need that same day because i’m impatient, but having all characters contribute to venari paragon chest for mount would be awesome
I don’t notice the caps in Old Republic, because they make sense. They’re not too high, but they’re not too low. You do all of the dailies or whatnot that you want on multiple characters, but by the time you’re done, you’re just about to hit cap when you’re just about done for the day. Or you farm it on one character for a lot longer and get the same amount.
I enjoy how Old Republic works, though. Reps take longer, but there’s less of them, more rewards along the way, and more of a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment as you go.
Ah okay
I’ve never played the game so i’m just speculating, i definitely have no experience first hand with the system i definitely enjoy BoA/account wide progression features though
I’m not proud in admitting this, but when faction changes first launched, I changed my death knight to Horde, until I realized I had to get all the core factions to exalted in order to do what I wanted with the Argent Tournament. Then I changed him back. I could’ve bought a whole videogame for that $60 lol
