I am having the heck of a time finding this specific information, so maybe someone out there knows.

Reputation from quests:

  1. Is it less for races not of that faction? (In other words, will my tauren get less Org rep from a quest than my orc, assuming they were the same level while turning it in.)

  2. There’s an obvious reduction for gray quests (something like 5 rep instead of hundreds or thousands). Is there a reduction at green and, if so, how much? What about yellow?

  3. Are the rep values on wowhead simply wrong?

Basically, I’m trying to get my level 49 tauren warrior to exalted with Orgrimmar. I did a couple green quests yesterday that wowhead listed as 3450 and 3750 rep, only to get less than 300 between the two of them. Do I have to push only yellow/orange quests to get any sort of reasonable rep gain? (Annoying, since the whole point is to get a wolf instead of a kodo, but at this rate I’ll be 60 before I can do so.)

There is no racial reduction. There is a reduction at green. And at grey, and lower grey, it just keeps going down; I believe each reduction is “it’s now worth 1/5 of the previous level.”

However, you can easily get Exalted with all four Horde factions by doing Alterac Valley very soon.

Nothing will give you over three thousand reputation for a single quest; it sounds like you’re reading the Modern version of Wowhead rather than the Classic version. It might go as high as 500 for a very few quests.

To get Exalted with a Horde/Alliance faction, you either go to Alterac Valley or turn in a bunch of runecloth. You can’t do it by nonrepeatable quests alone. Not at 60, not at all.

Yeah, not doing PvP. Sounds like waddly ugly mount is my fate.

EDIT: Ugh, no, I just realized that I was scrolled down far enough that it looked like the column header was Rep. - when the 3k is exp. Oh well.

I think there is a reduction at some point during the ‘green’ phase of a quest. I did a quest for Uldaman that was barely above when it would flip to ‘grey’ and it gave me very little reputation and experience. it’s just a guess but I think it scales downward in both experience and rep for every level you are past quest level.
