So, does anyone actually do the pet battles in Zuldazar for their Zandalari reputation??
I think it’s kind of silly, but that’s because I only have one level 25 pet. (And because I don’t understand why they’d force you to win a pet battle to continue trying to get rep.)
Does it even give you rep? Is it worth it to level up more of my pets to 25?
I only do pet battles with pet battle related rewards.
If I’m going to put effort into pets, it should make my pets stronger. If I’m going to put effort into my character, it should make my character stronger.
You get about 3K rep from Nazjatar and a good chunk of rep from mechagon
It’s entirely optional for the most part I’ve ignored pet battles this expansion
(Commentary): Did you know pet battle scales with level? It’s actually a legitimate tactic to cheese some of the harder fights by sending in a team of level one pets.
(Clarification): Pet Battle WQs do award rep.
The ones I’ve been doing have been giving me all Unshackled rep. Is there a certain point I have to get past?
If you beat every legendary pet they each have an item that you’re given that you do a turn in for rep. It adds up
To be clear, you’re talking about World Quest pet battles?
Yep,
Oh lord, that’s a lot of pets though.
I did them when I was doing dailies for the rep. Now I only do them on occasion if I am doing the emissaries and there are no other quests w/ worthwhile rewards.
Come now! You’ll never beat the Elite 4 that way!
I think they make pet battle world quests because a LOT of players like pet battles. Also, I imagine they do it to gently introduce pet battles to players who may not otherwise try them. Personally, I adore pet battles and always have

The regular pet battle WQs with rare quality pets are an inconsequential amount of rep - like 75.
The legendary pet battles on Mechagon and Nazjatar scale to your pet level, and best tactic for those is 3 level 1 pets. Since most of the legendary Mechagon pets are mechanical, 3 level 1 elemental battle pets are ideal for wrecking those. Mechagon and Nazjatar pet battles often drop quest turn-in items worth 250 rep. Flying bets are best to use against aquatic, mechanical best against beast, beast best against critter, so on so forth.
Also pets are easy to level if you use them while leveling alts and the regular pet battles give lots of experience compared to WQ pet battles. Regular pet battles give exp comparable to quests, and fighting a pile of toads around a lake or moths in the forest in full heirlooms on double xp bonus is a pretty fast way to level.
Lastly you can level low level pets in high leve lzones by just letting your level 1-5 pet hang in for one round, then your level 19 rare quality pet try to kill or soften something, then your level 25 rare pet destroy everything. Pets get triple experience and level super fast during the pet battle bonus event weekly when that’s up. You’ll have a buff that looks like a critter/mouse icon that says 200% bonux xp for battle pets, which is 3x normal xp they get for fighting. The fact you can cheese some legendary pet battles with level 1s and 2s suggests you might be careful not to level ALL of your pets. (Or stop by AH to get a few more level 1 elemental pets if you do.)
Anyway, the pet battle WQs are quite skippable, as much as the profession and cooking or requisition or supplies needed. Once you get a couple toons maxxed on rep on either faction, all you get from rep are paragon chests that give some currency and sometimes a… yes… battle pet. (Haven’t seen any mounts in bfa paragon chests like we got in legion. Keep getting a bat from nazmir paragon chests though…)
