Reporting AFK in BG went from 2 clicks to 7 clicks

You used to be able to just right click anyone’s nameplate in a battleground and there would be a “Report AFK” option. It took only two clicks to report a person: one right click on their nameplate, then another click on ‘Report AFK’

Now? Well when you right clcik someone’s nameplate in a BG there are now TWO options that just say “Report” with no differentiation between them. Both of them open a whole new window in the middle of your screen… One of them opens a general “report” feature to report spam, toxic speech, etc. the other one opens a “game disruption report” window, this is the AFK report. To “fill out” the form window that pops up on your screen you need to first select a drop down box, then click the ‘Report AFK’ option, then click “submit report” button,.

What used to require two clicks now requires 7 clicks and now makes a window pop up in the middle of your screen you have to interact with.

I don’t know who designed this new reporting system but it violates one of the core principals of good design: KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid! You do not improve a quality of life feature by making it require the user to spend more time to achieve the same result as an older system.

Please bring back the simply “right click > report afk” system ! please please please! sometimes when in an epic bg there are 5+ afk players to report and now instead of a few seconds of clicking you’re looking at possibly spending the longer portion of a whole minute to report them all.

So people can just report whoever’s DPS isn’t up to their standards AFK on a whim?

That hasn’t been a problem in bgs at all.

People who aren’t moving get mass reported as AFK and are booted out and replaced. The other reason someone might be removed would be if they are disruptive, which could take many forms. But since removal for AFK was the only option, they were removed as being AFK.

Sounds like a first draft.

It’s a cleverly designed system that helps lower the number of actual reports coming in on their end.

First of all one person reporting you does nothing, it takes several people. Secondly, if your dps is bad but you are trying, then when you get reported you get a time window to go attack someone and not get booted.

Reporting people who aren’t actually AFK is a waste of time

This.

You literally have… what, two minutes to reach and fight? (Which is frankly too much)

I think when someone gets mass reported as AFK, they are immediately booted out.

There is also an automatic function that when someone actually goes into AFK, they get a timer during which they have to attack someone.

And if you rez in the graveyard and don’t start moving soon, the system will boot you. Because they know people who see a 30 second rez timer often take a “quick break” that actually lasts several minutes.

So that’s why that person in my low level bg today was afk.

I think people are misunderstanding the OP, and I did initially as well.
They are talking the number of steps to report a player for anything now.
It opens a menu with drop downs and then another menu. Before it was right click, report afk and done.
The number of unique reports has, afaik, not changed before anything happens.

People queue and enter a bg to get xp, honor, or hks. Some of them go afk, because they don’t intend to participate. They should be kicked.

Same for reporting adverts in LFG.

It used to be a simple right click, left click done and next. I could clear out the whole LFG, at least for a few hours for me to find groups and play in peace without needing to sift through all the advertising.

Now? Its a right click which brings up a menu in the middle of screen. I then must left click select one of the two options then left click the next option and finally I have to hit the x to close the menu before I can report the next one!

I mean, why??!!??

Part of me is paranoid that they designed it this way to make it harder to report the LFG gold carries because it reduces visibility to one of their main in-game token selling ventures…

If enough people report you afk, you are automatically kicked. This feature is abused by most premades to kick people who aren’t listening to raid lead or just to troll. You can also lie in chat and call someone out by saying they are afk and half the team is bots and just reports said person without even looking for proof.

alright thats all true but has nothing to do with blizzard making the reporting process more convoluted.
