Report: Blizzard Blizzcon APP is spyware(video)

Blizzard has one. They already have phone apps linked to our accounts with them that could be used to verify a ticket purchase as well as generate time sensitive codes. No need to go 3rd party.

This is not spyware. This is what social media apps do. Personally, I would carry a burner phone for particularly invasive apps like this.

I kinda wish we can sue them and sink their evil company in the ground.

You will lose that lawsuit.

Infact not only will you lose, you will cave in if they give you a ton of money as reparations if you drop the lawsuit.

Downloading and signing up for the app is giving permission.

Maybe buy a cheap burner fone just for Blizzcon?

Yep

It’s kind of adorable that people are so desperate to find dirt on Blizzard, that they actually started reading the ToS for apps they download. Makes me wonder how many other apps on your phone have similar stipulations that you happily accepted because Blizzard isn’t requesting you to use them.

They said this same bullcrap against EA and their Origin service when Origin first appeared.

No its still illegal if it is illegal. If what the app does is illegal you would simply be condoning a breach of the law and the usurpation of your rights.

Yeah, it’s in California. Giving up their rights is what they do.

You can get around giving them your information. A pay as you go smart phone is around 99.00. You can buy them at Walmart. Buy six months of time and service and if u pay cash at Walmart you can set up the phone under any name and address. If they want your data give them a fake name and fake data.

This is pretty bad, I really hope this doesn’t push forward to BlizzCon, as an avid player of Blizzard games this literally makes me sick that this might even be true.

If this is the case, at the least let people know before they install this monster of an App. If you don’t its definitively not within the ethos of the company i love and support.

I’m glad I only buy virtual ticket and watch it online, just another PR nightmare they will regret and drop. No blizzard you MAY NOT see THOSE pictures of my girl.

Is this a Mobile exclusive app or this can also apply to desktop/laptop PCs?

Mobile cause they need to track you 24/7 at blizzcon

After last Blizzcon you’d think blizzard would be throwing everything at is to earn back our trust.

Naaaaahhh
