Report: Blizzard Blizzcon APP is spyware(video)

its forced to get a badge or you dont enter and yes just like your isp can sell your info blizzard has the same right to do so.

i just tell people use a pre paid phone if you go to blizzcon.

No. That was a full on blunder. EVERYONE involved deserved some serious criticism for it.

But its not illegal if they have your permission.

You’re right, in a just world that wouldn’t happen. Unfortunately, real life is full of lunatics and is not a safe place. He shouldn’t have put out his real name and address, that was foolish, and he got foolish results for it. He’s lucky it was just trolling and mockery, rather than something far more serious.

And to think I got a Forum suspension for saying Blizzard has become a Nanny State. Now this? I wonder, will the OP get a suspension too? Because negative post in today’s game gets you a forum suspension. It’s so absurd, I remember a time where you could speak your mind on these forums and Wow was about playing the game how you wanted to play it. You were the decider of what fun was. Not anymore, Blizzard is the decider of what “fun” is and speaking your mind is no longer encouraged unless it’s positive.

What I want to see is Blizzard roll back the heavy hand and go back to a company that listens to its customers, back to a time when you were the decider of what fun is to you. Back to a time when Blizzard wasn’t trying to nab and sell your personal data, back to when Wow felt like a place where you were free.

Not really. An agreement or contract isn’t valid when its founded on an illegal principle.

True. I’m just lamenting the fact it happened, but good point about being savvy with critical, personal information.

Don’t really care if I do. They all get fired in the end anyways.

Legal =/= right. And, frankly, there should be far more legal red tape around this sort of thing. Companies sadly won’t get the memo until lawsuits start going out.

I wouldn’t walk across the street to attend Blizzcon! Any controversy will be well covered by the streamers and the rest is nothing but a big advertisement for Blizzard and their lack of new releases in the coming year.

Well, I like your thread and I support it!

Better yet, just skip going there physically and just get the virtual ticket or use an illicit (I don’t really know if it is “illicit” or not, but that’s what 4chan tends to do) twitch stream of it.

I’d wager its decent grounds for legal action. Wouldn’t be surprised if some YouTube lawyer showed up looking for participation in a class action.

What happens if you just have an old flip phone I wonder? Can you still go to Blizzcon if that’s your phone? Or is a smart phone now required for you to attend? I guess they want to make sure everyone has a “Phone” this time

Those are the best phones. No ads, no swiping or tapping, no email crap. Just a simple call mechanism and number database. And why would I need a phone to play video games, when I have Diablo III or DOOM 2016 on the Nintendo Switch?
