Replacing WTF and Interface Folders causing game not to launch

Good Morning,

Built a new computer and when I copy the WTF and Interface folders from my old comp to the new, the game no longer launches. I hit the play button and the text shows game is running but the app window never opens. Have tried repair tool, reinstall and gpu drivers are up to date. Everything works on the new comp until I copy the WTF and Interface folders from the old comp. Any ideas?

The WTF dolder contains computer-specific settings related to hardware and the like. Import incompatible settings from another computer and you may put WoW into a configuration that conflicts with the actual available hardware so badly the game won’t start.

This is why importing WTF from a different computer is often a bad idea.

Thank you, would just copying the interface folder accomplish bringing my addons and settings over?

Addons, yes. Addon and in-game settings, no. Those are all in WTF.

If the problem is incompatible hardware configuration, you might try copying over the WTF folder (for all settings, including addon ones) and then deleting the config.wtf file at the top of the wtf folder. That’s where system settings are, which you probably need to re-create from scratch on a new machine anyway.

At a minimum, addon settings are in the “Account” folder.

OP, you might want to try only copying the Account subdirectory into your new install. This has worked for me in the past after installing WoW on a new computer. I didn’t have to redo my addon settings or re-enter my hotkey layout.

Thank you so much for your reply. I was having this same issue and deleting the config.wtf file worked perfectly. Brilliant, I appreciate it.
