If your motherboard supports it, a BIOS update and a drop in 5700X3D for $190 will give you high end modern day performance. And if you get a modern GPU (preferably one with enough VRAM so you aren’t being limited by PCIE 3.0 which I presume you will be on a 300 or 400 series motherboard, like a Radeon 6750XT $330, 6800 for $360, or 7700XT for $390,) you are looking at competitive performance without replacing the entire platform.
