I like where your going, but no one would be picking that as a last talent option. It doesn’t do enough.
Also, those talents all affect Voidform in some way.
It’s just a random thought I had to alleviate a few of the issues the community seems to have.
Yup, I think Void Bolt needs to become a talented option in some manner. I would like it to replace Shadow Crash as… its the same thing imo lol. Just 1 is short CD single Target and other is long CD AOE travel time and might miss if targets moved.
I would rather a talent that replaces S2M be one that gives up passive stats and removed VF CD or something.
Something like this could be a good fit for the searing nightmare line. We could have a talent row dedicated to providing us options for excess insanity expenditure. Searing nightmare, empowered Void Bolt, and maybe something that causes dp to spread to 2 nearby targets when cast on an enemy already affected by dp.
Perhaps. Honestly though, I think that talent row is really good atm. I would like to avoid too much tweaking.
Yeah, I’m a fan of that line as well. It would be nice to have some more insanity dumps in the talent tree though.
I would welcome an optional way to prune out VF too.
And the more I think about it, the more I think that Searing Nightmare shouldn’t be it’s own separate button. Having a keybind dedicated to an ability that only works after while another ability is being cast just seems clunky to me.
I would tweak Searing Nightmare to trigger after a second cast upon the same target of your first Mind Sear. The dots, then the nuke taking the third cast. That’s the the gameplay flow already, it’s just arbitrarily taking up 2 buttons.
This makes Mind Sear and Searing Nightmare a single button when you pick or not pick Searing Nightmare.
/use [nochanneling]Mind Sear;[channeling,talent:3/3]Searing Nightmare;Mind Sear
Works really well and is a nice compact and elegant solution. You should give it a try.
Also, I am playing around with this…
#showtooltip
/use [notalent:4/3,talent:6/1]Damnation
/use [notalent:4/3,talent:6/3]Void Torrent
/castsequence [@mouseover,harm,talent:6/1][talent:4/3,talent:6/1]reset=9 Psychic Horror,Damnation;Psychic Horror,Void Torrent
/use [combat]Power Infusion
Trying to make a button that will work for PvP and PvE for both Tier 6 talents on their own and followed by a mouseover of physic Horror and then the T6 talent. Not sure if I like it yet. So take it as you will.
Edit:
I cleaned it up a bit more and added a bit more functionality.
#showtooltip
/targetenemy [noexists]
/use [notalent:4/3,notalent:6/1]Void Torrent
/use [@mouseover,harm,notalent:4/3][@focus,harm,notalent:4/3][notalent:4/3]Damnation
/castsequence [@mouseover,harm][@focus,harm] reset=combat/10 Psychic Horror,Damnation
The idea behind it is this…
Note:
I didn’t have enough room to add in the different Void Torrent variables in either a cast sequence or a target priority as I ran out of 255 character space. So I figured you wont be needing to use Void Torrent in PvP much since its just a giant kick me flag and you wont need to use mouseover or focus targeting your Void Torrent much in PvE as your typically tunneling a boss at that point and you need to wait for the channel anyway.
So it made more sense in giving Damnation that extra functionality as you would often cast that on 1 target while following up on another target.
Personally I like having them separate, it’s a good thing that a macro can accomplish what’s desired here but being able to pandemic / double cast mind sear has its uses too that I wouldn’t personally want to give up.
Yea, my goal is to make a catch all or at least a “catch most”.
You will always get those one off niches etc. But for the vast majority of players and plays, you don’t need to focus on those niche moments. Those that do, you would do what you you need to anyway.
Like I use macros myself, but I don’t use game addons. Never used UI altering or things like deadly boss mod etc. I rather just get the feel for the situation and learn and act on instinct myself.
I used to be able to do this, then I got a monitor the size of my desk and realised I had to physically move my eyes to see any of my spell cooldowns instead of just relying on peripheral vision.
I’ve always liked the idea of surrender literally making you surrender to madness, and enter permanent voidform, but at a reduced effectiveness
Maybe like 5% damage increase, but the trade-off is you get voidbolt at all times. It would need tuning, but it would give an option to significantly change the playstyle.
Or it could even cause voidform to increase insanity generation, but also change voidbolt to cost insanity ![]()
Idk, I just like the idea of surrender being a real permeant choice. I don’t feel like a person would actually be able to surrender to the void and go mad, then pull themselves back out of that insanity on a whim. It makes no sense to me
I do like this idea, I think it would be a great play option for those who dislike Void Form.
I’m all for different play styles within a spec!, the problem is convincing Blizzard.
Look at Destro Warlocks, they had 2 options, Fire Build and Chaos Bolt build, but they saw this as an issue and killed the Fire play style recently on Beta…
Blizzard has this weird dislike of competing builds within specs
It’s like they hate fun and options
I cannot agree with you more!! But as of now I think an ability that can kill you is insane, and no class should have this mechanic.
I had completely forgotten about the nochannel and talent specifics macros. That’s some brilliant power using right there. That should clean things up immensely.
I was thinking more along the lines of NOT surrendering to madness. Mainly, you would stay Shadow and not dip into the Void. So you would have consistent damage all the time.
Something like this that Yvaelle came up with and then I added my own spin on it.
Rapid Shadows (Passive): Your damage over time effects increase your movement speed and damage over time haste by 1%, stacking up to 15%. Lasts for 60 sec. In addition, Mind Flay has an increased 10% chance to proc Dark Thoughts. Replaces Voidform / Dark Archangel.
Thanks.
I find it fun making interesting macro functionalities that go well beyond your typical basic macros you find on some websites.
STM in its current iterations is amazing for dungeons and world farming, providing a secondary void form for the spec. I thought it was bad at first my self until i realized where to use it.
I’m asking for it to be replaced because of multiple reports of it being too good, not because it is bad.
