How would you guys feel about this? Ive seen this suggested before and im trying to see if theres really any potential downsides to it.
When chain lightning hits 1 targets it gets boosted in damage and of course it gets affected by all the modifiers for LB like Primordial Wave.
Yea would love to have the chain lightning animation in single target. This would increase our aoe profile, but as a trade off for less ability to focus/burn one target. Never been a huge fan of binary choice of targeted ST/AOE spells.
I think it would be easier and cleaner to just make the initial target of chain lightning take more damage and the next four take a reduced amount of damage. This would give us the ability to choose which mob we wanted to prioritize, while still doing aoe.
The biggest negative to this would be elementalist enhancement using Primordial Wave. Being able to drop six supercharged lightning bolts and six chain lightnings at the same time would end up getting us nerfed into the ground.
I do appreciate any suggestions that try to streamline the class, though. Enhance could do with a little “smoothing of the rough edges”.
Seems like a simple fix. A spell that does less damage to each target after the first. It always feels bad for me at least to use lightning bolt when we have chain lightning. At least asthetic wise, Id rather cast chain.
Learn to make choices in the moment.
Leave LB/CL as is.
I don’t think anyone struggles with knowing when to use LB/CL. It’s more about aesthetics.
Change the spell animation then, but this certainly feels like a simplification thread.
that could be another solution I guess, but if they dont want to change it then just make it one spell. Everytime you cast LB it feels like you’re holding back. btw having 2 spells right now isn’t really what makes shamans complex you know. If it were just one spell it doesnt mean we’re BM hunters all of a sudden.

They could just change it so that after casting primwave the next chain lightning causes all your flame shock targets to erupt in nature damage. Easy fix.
Nobody struggles to chose LB or CL. What people do struggle with though is the fact that we are one of the most button bloated classes and the LB/CL decision is boring, binary, and vestigial of era we’re no longer in so combining the two frees up a keybind without really removing anything. You’re still casting lighting, no one is taking that away from you.

I can lightning bolt, or use a free giga powered chain lightning, but only if I don’t have an ele blast up but not if I have tempest strike available. The quadruple spender logic!
All good until you’re CL hits CC targets or something where mechanics shouldn’t hit a close by mob.
eh your crash lightning was gonna hit is anyways, and if it didnt , your tempest bolt will anyways
No thanks, even as an Elemental main I prefer both of the spells to look different. Especially since I play all Shamans specs in PvE and PvP. Forked Lightning is really nice looking.
