Replace For the Alliance Suggestions Box

For the Horde is a battle cry. It’s to the point, it’s punchy, it almost rhymes which is better than if it actually did rhyme.

For the Alliance, as most people know, is garbage and with this, our 7th expansion I think it’s finally time for it to be replaced. Just as General Electric became GE, and the YMCA became the Y, it’s time for the branding of the Alliance to become a bit more colloquial.

Please submit suggests for our own, punchy little battle cry in the text field below and you’ll be eligible for unknown riches in the future*. I’ll start (with some very bad ideas):

  • Stand together
  • Hold the line
  • Alliance Strong
  • Remember the Shore

*If I love your idea, and you send me an in-game mail reminding me, and you’re an Alliance character.

I was going to humorously say “fun and prizes” and then I thought well, why not give them gold or something.

I think the official battle cry should be:
PARDON ME GENTS, MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION LET’S FIGHT FOR THE UNITED STRENGTH OF THE ALLIANCE FORCES

The reason why war cries don’t work for the Alliance is because it’s not really part of the medieval hero fantasy. Calls to war were done more with hunting horns and drums.

Wouldn’t it be more interesting if the Alliance had no battle cry at all?

Just a bunch of quiet, steely eyed bastards giving a nod before setting about combat in a workman-like fashion at the sound of a brazen horn.

This is all well and good but we’ve got dwarves over here, and they’re not exactly quiet nor orderly. They drink, they dance, they’re loud.

Alliance has 3 syllables already…I think that might be why it’s so hard to give it a catchy phrase.

How about ‘A-Li-Ance!’

Just want to add…if anyone has heard the Met’s chant, ‘Lets Go Mets’…that’s what I was thinking for ‘A-Li-Ance’
I think it sounds pretty good.

I mean, they could be. Maybe they could do one of those weird deep throated dirges instead of tooting on horns.

P.S. I think “For the Alliance!” outdates “For the Horde!”. I seem to remember that being a WC2 battle cry.

I’ve played Alliance since the beginning though I’ve dabbled in the Horde here and there. And I have to admit that “For the Horde” works on so many levels as have been mentioned. It sounds good in that it’s short and it rhymes where Alliance is a longer word and doesn’t fit a good battle cry that I can think of. But part of what makes “For the Horde” work so well is that the Horde is just sort of badass in the first place. They’ve got hulking orcs and towering tauren, spikes on their buildings, wolf mounts, etc. And when they shout “For the Horde” it’s not just the words, it’s the voices. When you watch the Wrathgate cinematic, and the Horde is riding in on their wolves, and you hear those booming low voices yelling “For the Horde!” it just works. Earlier in that same cinematic, you hear an Alliance soldier say “For the Alliance” and it sounds kind of wimpy. The closest the Alliance has come to having a decent war cry was the Dwarven “For Khaz Modan!” but it doesn’t work for the whole Alliance. And maybe I liked it so much because I have a dwarf bias.

“For Azeroth!” Basically because that’s what they’re fighting for. WE’re fighting to protect the Horde from destroying Azeroth and everyone in it.

Alliance should just say For The Horde.

Afterall our faction is merely a plot device to drive Horde character progression. We’re practically apart of them.
