Repeating Old Dungeons Solo

… for transmog / mounts.

Are you able to do a Dungeon, leave, and go back in to repeat, or is there some form of lock / timer?

Mostly asking about Vortex Pinnacle for Drake of the North Wind

For normal mode dungeons you can zone out, right click your unit frame, click on reset all instances and repeat the dungeon.

However, you can only do a max of 10 instances per hour. (This is account wide btw)

For heroic mode dungeons, once per day per character

Regular mythic dungeons (mythic 0) are once per week per character.

Ah, perfect response, thanks!

As a follow-up, how do you do a heroic mode dungeon solo? I’m only used to using finder for level-appropriate dungeons, and finding the entrance and walking in for older stuff (which I’ve assumed to be “Normal”)…

You right click you character and can set the level of the dungeon.

Nice! Thanks.

Don’t suppose the higher difficulty has better drop rates and such? I think I read somewhere that certain drops are only available at higher difficulties; what about stuff that’s available on Normal? Does it drop at all higher level, or has different rates?

I know on some raids the items didn’t drop on LFR. Other items might only drop in raid on heroic or mythic. I’m not sure on dungeon drops normal versus heroic and mythic.

Druids get a bit of cheese where we can Dreamwalk x2 to warp to the Dreamway and then back to the nearest GY outside the dungeon. I imagine monks etc with similar abilities get the same. Helps for resetting a place that doesn’t have a quick way back, or warping to the start of somewhere like Return to Kara after getting a key.

Also perfect for when you do a farm raid just before progression on the next difficulty up. Druids Dreamwalk out and back to the entrance while everyone else hearths to change the difficulty, then summon back.

This is awesome info I never thought of, thanks!

Certain items are specific to a set difficulty, and the item appearance (for transmog purposes) can be different based on difficulty. Different colors a on difficulty was common for a while, more recently more drastic visual differences have become typical. You’ll just have to check which difficulty(s) drops the specific piece your looking for.
