I’m encountering an issue in World of Warcraft where, every time I log into any of my characters, the introductory cinematic for The War Within expansion with the Sword of Sargeras replays, and I receive notifications for all my titles as if they were newly earned, and re-achieve WoW’s 20th Anniversary Achievement. This happens across all my characters on two accounts, even though I have completed the campaigns (But not the War Within Campaign), and some characters are already level 80.
Here’s a summary of the troubleshooting steps I’ve completed:
- Cleared Cache and WTF Folders: I moved both the Cache and WTF folders out of the retail directory into a backup folder and restarted the game. I loaded without add-ons disabled, but this did not resolve the issue.
- Tested Without Add-Ons: I moved all add-ons into a separate backup folder to eliminate any add-on interference. This had no effect on the problem.
- Scan and Repair: I used the Battle.net Launcher’s Scan and Repair feature to check for corrupted or missing files, restarted my computer, but the issue persisted after this.
After completing all these steps, the issue persists. I have two battle.net accounts for WoW on my computer. The problem didn’t occur on my 1st account but started when I logged into my 2nd account for the first time this expansion a few days ago, after changing my battle tag and some character names. Now, it happens on both accounts and all characters. Update: Today I logged into my 1st account and got the 20th Anniversary Achievement again, and issue didn’t occur. Looks like it’s only my 2nd account it’s happening to now.
This seems like a local issue, though I’ve read others experiencing the same, even after a full reinstall didn’t fix it. I reached out to Blizzard Support, but they couldn’t assist and directed me here to the forums.

The title rewarding notification is happening to a lot of people. sometimes it is login only. sometimes it is when you mount.
I have seen the tww video 2 or 3 times only since patch, but that is not just you or your install.

Same issue here. I submitted a bug report. I hope they fix this soon.
I have been awarded titles more times in the last few weeks than I have in the previous twenty years.
Pity it’s the same titles over and over again, but still.

I think the issue is not regaining titles. I think it is not keeping them awarded between logouts. I tested this because I set the messed up titles to some of my alts and upon logging back in and they no longer have titles. So my thinking is, that they are awarded because they are earned, however when you log out they are not saved to your account.

Same issue every time I log into a toon I get the trash cinematic after the loading screen i tried all the same things the original posted as well as a fresh install of wow and nothing changed. It was funny at first now it’s very annoying makes me wanna cancel my sub after just 2 days of playing the new expansion.

Blizzard please for the love of god fix this. I don’t want to uninstall my addon manager/add ons and go through a bunch of hoops to fix your mistake.

same issue, quick question: do you have a second copy of WoW installed on any part of your computer?
Titles are a server-side aspect of your characters and account, so it’s unlikely the client has anything at all to do with the titles issue.
This test…
…was more than enough to prove that it’s a problem on Blizzard’s side.
As for the cinematic issue referenced, never seen that before.
I have done the addons, cache thing multiple times and nothing works.
