They appear to be repeatedly locating me because of the number of pets I have. Also apparently because we once shared a guild they can see whatever server / name I move this Druid to by looking up old posts I made in the Guild chat. Evidently the guild chat updates to my new server / avatar name if I swap servers.
That is PRIVATE INFO being leaked to others without my permission.
If I want people to know what servers I move characters to, I can tell them. I don’t need Blizzard empowering an Ex to follow and harass me further. Is there any way I can block this data from being viewable by anyone on the forums, as well as ensure that if I leave a guild I can purge that confidential info?
Really getting tired of this individual and this sort of drama.
I’m pretty sure you can stop your character information from being shared to third-party websites by changing the option under your Battlenet Privacy and Communication tab. There is an option there to disable the sharing of game data which should stop people from using Check-pvp or similar websites to find your alts through pet collections or other methods.
No clue how the guild name-changing thing works. I guess I have never been motivated enough to look at that.
I did just that. Thank you guys. Before I leave this post, does anyone know if there is a reliable way to prevent people on THESE forums from looking up my pet tab whether logged in or logged out?
To give a hypothetical. Lets say Nikolo and I had an issue. He’s always bugging me and so on, and tracking me via my pet tab. Is there any way I can make my armory simply nonexistant to him and anyone else so that any time they type in https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/u/playername-server/
It just automatically and for everyone comes up as “Hidden / Private”.
Also kind of shocking and creepy to think that Blizzard is allowing guild chat to update to new servers / handles when a person leaves the guild. That’s like telling a someone who was abused, “No matter where you run, they will know where to find you.”
Your character name is not. Your choice to make a transaction IS. Look up privacy law.
Pushing Blizzard for account wide ignore is prob the best bet here, which doesn’t exist but should. Since this is a video game your gaming account isn’t your name, address, and SSN, Blizzard can do whatever they want with it. The armory serves a purpose and it would be a big issue people could block others from seeing things.
You have a real issue here, and maybe you should talk to the police about harassment if you can document and show them what is going on. Likely they won’t do anything, but it’s worth a shot if they are bothering you this much. Good luck, no one should have to deal with something like this.

You realize people leave guilds for all sorts of reasons. It’s like saying by allowing chat instead of forbidding it entirely (see Hearthstone.) That Blizzard is enabling all sorts of behaviors.
How about, understand that it’s a reasonable way to code stuff, and it’s benign? Just like how the forums are to communicate, and not to spew vile things (which people can find a way to do so, filter or not.)
It’s not creepy, just something normal.
And what would people do in cases of only one battle net ID like most other forums?
Simply, even if they can find you from your pet tab, they need to know which pet tab to look under. That is, they can’t just say “give me everyone with a white bunny”, they have to have a character name to look for.
So, given that, yes, they could see if someone has the white bunny, but they need the name to check in the first place.
The question then becomes how do they get your name in the first place, to then check “Aha! White bunny, this is the one!”?
And, of course, if they’re getting your name in the first place, well that’s a different problem entirely. Perhaps someone on your friends list is ratting you out or some other subterfuge.
I’m going to go on a limb and suggest that they’re not ripping player names from the forums, and checking every single one, just to hunt you down (perhaps they, but boy, that is some dedication!).
You mean to tell me that when you hide your profile, it does nothing except remove the profile button if you click on someone’s name? You can still look people up by just going to the main site?
Just ignore the harassers, and I mean the old fashioned way, don’t respond, click their name and report for harassment and… is there a box you fill in? If so, explain he/she wont leave you alone. They will give up eventually or get a ban.
no…no warcraft player would EVER find a way to stalk you in game, you must be mistaken. Theyve assured us in here that it would never happen and anyone who says otherwise is lying.
lmao.
seriously though…report report report. Every time they contact you.
Ignore report AND if they bypass the in game ignore function with more toons / accounts do not respond, ignore, and open a GM ticket for ongoing harassment.
lmao…yeah…and online gaming is one of the worst places for online harassment.
Do I need to dig up links again from the last time someone was downplaying this crap?
and it was only a PM where the death threats I would get came thru on other sites lol.
absolutely agree.
if the OP does say anything let them know shes forwarding the harassment to law enforcement. Depending on the severity here and now they may not do anyting but you need to get the trash recorded so if and when it does escalate they can connect the dots and see there is a pattern going on, not just an isolated incident.
Ignore anyone here who downplays harassment. people are murdered frequently enough after online harassment.
Just ignore the character that they contacted you on. If they log into a different character/account to contact you again that is “circumventing the ignore function in order to engage in ongoing harassment.”
Take screenshots of the new characters contacting you that shows you have them on ignore.
Then submit a ticket directly to customer support under the following options:
Go to support from your drop down menu on world of Warcraft site.
Choose game (World of Warcraft)
Choose what type of issue is it - In Game issues.
Click Contact Support
In Game issues - report a player
Ongoing harrassment.
Contact Us
Do not simply click report in game - it will do nothing because the people who look at those reports will not have the information required to link the harrassment from different characters with one report - and they likely won’t see all of your reports at once, so they’ll just make a decision based on the isolated message (and this doesn’t show on going harrassment)
A side note - you should also detail your entire story in the customer support ticket: tell them how many times you’ve server transferred in the past to get away from this person and they still persist with the harrassment: this will likely make the punishment more severe.
Do not ever respond to them. Ignore and screenshot then send to customer support.
If you respond, even just to say “leave me alone” customer support may view that as you engaging with them and the punishment may not be as severe.
Their account will receive at least a warning and if they continue to do it, then they risk closure of their account (permanent ban).
