Last week I completed the world quest No More Bread in the Isle of Dorn. This world quest is now active for the second time and the renown is greyed out to indicate it will not be awarded. This has also been the case for all pet battle world quests which I completed in early access. Since those first completions every time they have repopulated they offer no renown rewards.
To be clear, this is not on a second completion by another warband character during the world quest’s active period. These are on world quests that are completed, time expires, then show up for a second time.

I believe this is working as intended but I also don’t think it’s working in a rational manner.
It tells you that the you only earn the “bonus” renown the first time you complete it by your warband. Repeatable world quests are simply limited availability quests in principle. Even though it is only available for a certain time then expires and comes back, it’s the same quest your just repeating it.
So it is doing exactly what it says it is supposed to, only awarding the bonus renown once, the first time any of your characters complete that world quest ever, ignoring resets.
That said for world quests that cycle in and out like they do, I think that the players expect that to reset after each cycle. So that the first of your warband to do that world quest while it is active this cycle, awards bonus renown. Ignoring if you have completed that world quest on a previous cycle.
Both make sense but as a programmer I can understand how the first explanation would be the explanation of how it is working.
That just does not make sense as you always got renown when world quests repeated previously. I understand with warbands not getting it on repeat characters on the same cycle because of the abuse of renown farming, but it is irrational that they neutered renown in ths manner.
Same exact concerns. It seems random and unclear what will award rep to increase Renown. “Oh, it’s world quests, campaign quests, silver enemies, chests”…it’s inconsistent and untrue, and if I’m wrong, then it’s totally bugged.
I literally did all the campaigns and was stuck at 2 Renown. Killed silvers, looted chests, did world quests. THERE’S NOTHING LEFT. It’s gotta be a bug IMO. There’s literally no point in bothering. I’m totally stuck at Renown 3 for one of them so looks like I’m locked out of progressing the game story and content.
It’s such an inconvenient hassle to run around trying to figure it out and wasting all so much time, it’s such a bad rub against the player. I’m literally “done” with the The War Within…therefore, in my game, the story ends with Alleria running away from Xal’atath by swan-diving off a cliff. That’s it. Game over. Congrats! Whatever happened to Jaina and Thrall bringing the Horde and Alliance? I’m going to assume they were sunk in the middle of the ocean by Xal’atath, with her immense power and all, ike she blew up Dalaran.
Makes total sense.
I hear they arrived and Alleria confronted Xal’atath again…but I never saw that, so to me, that’s just rumors or an alternate reality or conspiracy theory. Dornogal doesn’t even have a port.
Anyways, nothing left to do except LFG random dungeon finder to level up alts or go play another game until Midnight comes out. If Blizzard wants to tell a “good story” and introduce and brag about “cool content” they shouldn’t lock it behind bugs and bad design, or anything like that really. Not a good experience for players who sub and occasionally pay for other content.
“Get Back In the Fight” shouldn’t be about fighting with the fricken game design to figure out why things are broken or don’t work right or because everything always has a “catch to it” or some other shenanigans.
The War Within: The End.
Roll Credits.
Next Xpac plz.
