I have no idea why people think that “stress testing” specifically means getting to actually play the game in order to test the servers.
They are designed to break the game. To shove as many people in as they think the servers can handle then keep pressing on. They intended on people getting d/ced and have log in queues, this way theyre prepared for launch day.
You have an opportunity now to play up to level 5. They didnt lie. This isnt miscommunication. its MISUNDERSTANDING on the part of the customers who dont understand what a stress test means.
Right…and Blizzard in no way contributed to that confusion? It was crystal clear that most stress testers would not get access to the game? They weren’t led on with false promises of getting to play to level 5? Any delusions that you would get to play were solely the fault of the naive player?
Regardless of right or wrong, whether they should have know what stress test meant in this situation or if it was misleading, their perception is their reality. That OP is a little crazy with the causal link in that post, but if a lot of people feel like they got shafted, right or wrong that’s what they will think.
Blizz hype the stress test: a lot of motivated people show up and persistently, in the hope to play, don’t give up pressing the login button over and over. Oh and btw the hype is always good for publicity/sales.
Blizz being honest a didn’t trick people. This meant not many (if any at all) motivated people to mindlessly keep clicking “login” over and over. BTW don’t underestimate the amount of money from subs in the hope to get into beta/stress.
They only stress tested the login servers. By artificially capping the number of players that got in, they in fact didn’t stress test the game. They didn’t get to test the impact of mob respawn rates on leveling times. All of that stuff is going on right now, but they aren’t monitoring it. They peaced out after a couple of hours of watching us try to login and letting Asmongold get diddled by C’thun.
