Repair and scan bug

so i had a bug in the game about torghast anima power dissapearing, my guildie suggested that i log out the game and try to scan and repair, i did that around 10 hours ago and just slept cause i thought i would just continue the scan later. Now as i am trying to scan and repair it has been scanning for over 2 hours now, it just scans and it sends me a notification when its done scanning but then it just repeats it self and scans forever and doesnt repair, when i cancel the scan and repair it just has the update button and puts me back in the scan and repair loading bar again. how do i fix this so my scan and repair working again?

There is a lot of problem going on since yesterday , a lot , even AH has some problem , weird bugs !!

I had this scan/repair issue last month. I saved my WTF and Interface folders, then had to uninstall and reinstall the game. Haven’t had the problem since.

what is a WTF folder? and did u just re-install the GAME or the battle net APP? it seems like my problem on scan and repair infinite loop is just on my wow game cause on other games like hearthstone i tried scanning and repairing but it didnt have the infinite loop and works just fine

The WTF folder holds your client-side character settings. Also, some addon settings.

The Interface/Addons folder holds all the Addons you have installed.

Here is a screenshot of where mine is installed. It is the default installation path for Windows 10.

It sounds like they uninstalled / reinstalled the game itself. After they had backed up the folders holding their addons & settings, of course.

hmm in my retail folder i dont see a WTF folder

That is very odd as the game would create (on next launch) a new WTF folder if you removed (or renamed) the existing one.

When you do a full UI reset – to reset the game back to default settings — you rename the Cache, Interface, & WTF folders so that the game will create brand new ones on its next launch.

We suggest people do that in order to help rule out (or correct) any UI or addon corruption of the game files.

Thinking more about it, if the scan/repair was in the middle of repairing those folders and was unable to complete it – that might explain the absence of that folder.

the link u sent told me to uninstall addon managers. by addon managers do u mean stuff like raiderio, tsm apps or just delete all of the addons in the addon folder?

No, it is just referring to any programs you use to install addons. Since some can try and reinstall the addons if they are removed.

You will be hiding any installed addons from the game when you rename the Interface folder.

So Blizzard is just trying to insure that they aren’t reinstalled while you are trying to do the Full UI Reset.

so i uninstalled curseforge, what exactly am i supposed to do? cause the files still dont show. In my retail folder i only see 3 folders which are blob_storage, Interface, and Screenshots

It sounds like the scan/repair has removed that folder completely. So it will no longer be available to backup. You will need to redo some of your settings once you are able to get back into the game.

If you have addons installed inside your Interface/Addons folder, then you can backup the Interface folder to save them.

If you are going to fully uninstall the game, I would move that folder out of the WoW directory for now so that it can be protected from deletion.

Are you still unable to launch the game? Is it still stuck in the scan/repair mode?

i already tried uninstalling the game AND the bnet app, the addon folder is still there full with my addons and yes its still stuck in a infinite loop and i cant log in

Have you submitted a ticket to Blizzard to have them help assist you with this issue?

Ticket Link: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/1203/ticket

yeah i alr did, still waiting for them to check the ticket out

Hopefully they can attend to your ticket in a short time from now and get you back into the game quickly.

I wish you the best of luck with your issue.

thank u very much for ur help

You’re welcome.

finally fixed this bug after 3 days, what i did was i uninstalled wow all of them (ptr, retail, ptr classic, classic) then i deleted all of the folders in the my wow folder and i used the cog wheel in the bnet app and used the install button there instead of the big blue install button and it worked and i can play again!

That is great!

Also, thanks for coming back with your solution. Perhaps it can help another player should they ever find themselves in the same situation.
