Renown. The writing on the wall

I can already see that I’m not going to do the renown thing as intended. I got 60 and covenant. Did half of the first renown quest and that was the end of that. Revendreth is cool to hang out in and I love the class abilities. But I don’t need to live there.

Glad to have the PVP/Dungeon catch up thing.

I am getting to the point where I want to run an alt but dont have time because with the covenants i have too much to do and not enough time

The progress/time ratio started declining in BFA to the point where alts are becoming very hard to raise and maintain to any meaningful level.

I don’t think they considered what keeps a lot of people subbed is alts as apposed to drawing out a main as long as possible.

Ok, that’s nice. You don’t have to. Catch up mechanic got turned on in week 2. Just run the dungeons for renown tokens each week.

I agree. I have two characters and it is very difficult to keep up with all the stuff that has to get done on both of them. I don’t know how people say there isn’t enough to do. Perhaps they play 24/7 or something.

Absolutely! I play a main about 60% of the time and dabble in healing or tanking the other 40. It’s fun to jump around.

Well thanks to raid you now how that went lol. So…I wonder if we will ever get the prince his supp…oh raid is up and yes we do it seems lol.

My venthyr VDH really needs the renown 10 to hopefully see decent gear in the WQ’s so I amhooked into this regardless.

I am not ready to tank so dungeon not looking very viable. And havoc got too squishy for my tastes. So really hoping to fix up some gear at renown 10.

Dunno why they keep adding all those class halls, covenants, and other gimmicky systems when all we want is a tiny home we can decorate and place wherever we want in the world (aka housing). keep it stupid simple = better. Stop overcomplicating everything for no good reasons.

There are a lot of time sinks in the game but renown isn’t one of them.

Capping your renown takes maybe a couple hours a week, if even that.

it’s still a time sink. There is nothing really fun about covenant sanctums tbh. You just have to do it because…

I enjoy the covenant questline, where I just infiltrated a snooty vampire high society party to play detective.

I enjoy the soulbind and conduit systems, and while the balance might not be there I like the idea of covenant abilities in general.

I even enjoy the mission tables, which are an improvement from previous expansions, and there’s a degree of strategy you can employ to maximize efficiency and overcome more challenging missions, all without taking more than a couple minutes a week.

There’s a lot to like about the covenant system, IMO.

There are a dozen things that take a couple hours a week. Tough to get them all knocked out each week.

And almost all of those things are optional

Everything is optional. What’s your point?

Not even going to dignify this with a rebuttal. You know what I mean, you’re just taking the piss

So capping ash? Optional? Grinding for gear? Optional? Farming for your leggo power? Optional? Farming Anima? Optional? Capping renown? Optional? Doing dailies and weeklies? Optional?

The reason you won’t answer is because you can’t.

The Venthyr story thingy has me entertained so far, but… I can’t foresee doing this on several alts for the other covenants. It’ll have to be a slow thing over the next couple of years.

I’m more concerned with the number of systems present in general. All of it feels bloated with lots of running back and forth clicking on things for nebulous reasons. Soulbinds in particular just feel like a clunky pseudo-talent tree.

This. All they need to do if they want time played to sky rocket through the roof in record breaking numbers is to introduce player housing. I spent days building gothic manors, castles, houses, and cemeteries in Wildstar. The housing in that game kept me playing well beyond the time when I should have quit, but instead stayed up until shutdown.

Ash? Yes, you can only wear one legendary right now. By the time you can wear another you’ll have more ash than you know what to do with

Gear? That’s the main draw of the game, and the thing you’re getting just by playing it

Legendary? You can only wear one right now, what’s the rush?

Anima? The covenant reputation vendors, where you spend anima, all give cosmetics. Completely optional, save for the 1000 anima a week for your renown

Renown is the only thing mandatory

Weeklies are for renown. Dailies are for rep for factions that end up giving you more cosmetic rewards

Keep trying

I finished the 3 renown quests in 2hrs. They are without a doubt the easiest things we’ve ever had to do in any end game system.
