Am I doing it wrong? Why does it seem so slow to acquire.
On my 3rd alt already and I can tell that Renown is going to turn me off if it’s required for unique activities etc repeating stuff over and over. Why did they not just make it account bound for it?
Everything that unlocks a world quest, gives you an upgrade for a world quest to make it easier, or allows you to do some other event is account-wide.
Every relevant reward that isn’t directly tied to character power is already account-wide. The things that aren’t are the real (not cosmetic) armor, the primal infusions used to upgrade crafted armor, and crafting knowledge.
Renown is not something that you should feel a need to rush. Let me just be clear about that. Renown is a system that, sure, you can no-life grind to max ASAP by doing every world quest, doing Centaur Hunts, turning in the various rep tokens you can find in piles of dirt or in treasure chests etc etc.
But it’s designed to be something you gain over time just by doing content. Hell, the quests that you unlock via renown cement that in place as the first quest chain unlocked for the Valdrakken Accord was designed to be reached at the same time the Vault of the Incarnates unlocked, while the second quest chain was designed to be unlocked after the Vault of the Incarnates was completed as you’re helping to ‘strengthen the other flights’ something that Kalec mentions in the cinematic you see after completing the Vault of the Incarnates.
So don’t stress yourself out staring at the renown levels wondering if you’re getting renown too slowly etc etc. Because honestly? You don’t need to rush it.
That being said, it’s ideal to get to at least Renown 20 for each faction on at least one character before you move on to pushing alts through renown levels, and that’s because of the catch up mechanics that come at Renown 10 and Renown 20 for each faction. Word of a Worthy Ally Tier 1 increases alt reputation gains by 100% below Renown 10, and Tier 2 increases alt reputation gains by 100% below Renown 20 and by 200% below Renown 10, making it much faster to go through the renown ranks on alts.
I expect that we’ll get more renown levels in future patch updates, meaning additional tiers of Word of a Worthy Ally will likely be added. A tier 3 could see reputation increased by 100% below Renown 30, 200% below Renown 20 and 300% below Renown 10 etc etc.
You ABSOLUTELY should be rushing through Renown. ALL of your professions have their best stuff gated behind Renown. You want to do some crafting orders for people (half the reason noone uses that new system either), then you’d better have the Renown to aquire the patterns for the items to craft quick before someone else does and floods the market. Also, There are Main Story Quest (MSQ) chapters that unlock at different renown levels. Valdrakken’s for example is at 19 and Dragon Expedition is even deeper than that to progress through story. This is all for just 1 character.
Of course not, because Blizzard knew that there would absolutely be people who wanted to no-life it and not feel punished by arbitrary limits, which was a problem Shadowlands had.
If you want to no life the renown, you have that option, but it clearly wasn’t designed that way for everyone.
Hell the fact that we get weekly rep chunks for all factions implies that Blizzard knows most folks aren’t going to be no life rushing it, as the weekly quest offers a substantial rep gain for all factions. Blizzard knew it was going to be something that took time. It’s a system that’s supposed to give you something to aim for over the lifetime of the expansion.
Consider that we’re going to have this renown system till the end of DF. I wouldn’t bother rushing it unless you need something specific from a particular rep.
Most of the stuff is accountwide. Look at the renown rewards. Things that say account unlock.
The only exception are the Maruuk whistle which is account unlock but requires renown 23 to use (they should fix this what’s the point of it being account wide unlock if you still need the rep to use the item lol). and for some reason the dragonkin hunter needs to be unlocked on a hunter even though it says account unlock as well.
Personally i doubt that.
Its not that hard to get rep if you put in any effort.
Like you get around 600 rep for the feast and you can do that multiple times a day.
The hunt gives at least 190 rep per run and you can do that 24/7
And as you said
Which means you should have been half way there a couple weeks back.
Realistically, these shouldn’t take a person more than a couple of months.
They can be done over the course of the expansion if you want, no problem there at all. But i dont think thats the aim of the system.
Well if you think Renown is going to stop at 25 I have a bridge to sell you.
They’re no doubt going to add more renown levels, and possibly additional factions over the course of the expansion much like they did with Shadowlands. I would honestly be shocked if they didn’t.
I can see a world in which that happens.
But i also see a world in which we just get new reps.
Because theyre just reps set up differently to past expansions. They might be called renown but they work differently to renown from shadowlands.
But either way, you should be maxed out by the time the next patch comes. Because you will either get new reps, or just be even further behind than you were before.
Heck, I’ve been working on that Sporeggar rep now for over a decade. I actually did a couple of the rep quests the other day. I figure I do them 20 more times, I’ll finally be exalted. I’ve been averaging about 4 times a year.
Sporgarr was one of the easiest reps for me.
I was running old dungeons to get tabbard rep, and doing the underbog gives a lot of rep. And there is a quest in there that is infinitely repeatable. You just get 5 items and turn them in for 250 rep. You get lots more than 5 per run, and then you just run it again.
I don’t think it’s that bad. I’m 21, 19, 20, 29 in that order on Shadina. Once I’m done with Valdrakken Accord, I can begin tossing all of my time and energy into the other ones.
