Renown catch up painfully slow?

Perhaps it’s different in pve, but this week I’ve done around 200+ arenas, both 2s and 3s, on 2 separate toons. I’ve done a bunch of bgs, got wins, 2 torg runs, etc.

With all of that, I have not gotten a single renown from that content. The only reliable source so far has been callings.

Is it this rare in pve as well? I pretty much exclusively pvp in wow, and this renown catch up seems really punishing since I changed cov’s.

The system is entirely too vague, no drop rates that I can find, and personally I find it to not be very fun considering how much time I’ve invested to not get any bonus renown.

I’m really not a fan of adding another progress bar type of chore, but at this point, I’d be happy if there was something to guarantee renown catch up after ‘x’ amount of end game content. I don’t know what a solution would look like, but something better than the random drops would be highly preferable in my case.

example: 50 pts = 1 renown. Raid boss gives 12pts, dungeon completion gives 8 pts, arena wins give 4 pts. Numbers hypothetical, not meant to be actual numbers, just spitballing.

Maybe even keep the randomness to drops as they are, with this added to it. That way instead of consistent disappointment, its instead a nice surprise while working towards a goal - not feeling brickwalled.

Im aware that if you’re at the previous weeks cap, you do not get renown catch up. This is not that. I’m currently renown 9 and under 15 on my alt

It seems to swing pretty widely. I’ve heard some people say that they got caught up in to time running instances and some that it took forever.

Just for the record, as of right now, I think this is a bug and not intended. There is a blizzard support article that says that you can earn renown through max level gameplay until you are caught up to the renown cap.

Anyway- I think it’s just random but I also think it’s a bit broken or there are hidden mechanics we don’t know about (maybe there’s a daily cap on earning X renown from Y source, for example). I don’t get why Blizzard doesn’t make it more clear or respond to this issue- if you look at the customer service and bug report forums there are a LOT of people having this issue.

Anecdotally, my experience was that the catchup process was quick and smooth on my death knight (although I think I changed at week 3 or something with her so not much to catch up on) and fast at first on my warrior but now I’ve been stuck on 19 since Friday. I’ve done some heroics and the callings, torghast, and random BGs- nothing. At this point I’ve just given up.

When tuesday rolls around do not turn in the lost souls or anima weeklies- try to get as much catch up as you can first. When/if you catch up to 21 then do the weeklies like you normally would.

Hm, It may be RNG like everything else in the game.
For my alt, got a renown token at least every 2nd dungeon he did.
took very little time to get him to 21 (the cov quests combined took more effort and time than actually getting to renown 21 on him)
Sorry to hear about your luck with it :frowning:

I got one randomly from a M+ last night. Was kinda surprised.
Hadn’t gotten one from anything else all week aside from the weekly stuff.
I don’t understand why they have to make it so tedious to get caught back up after switching…I already lost all my anima. /shrug

We’re not even 2 months in and people are whining about catch-up already, lol.

yes. its because the system is entirely too vague, and when performing the “catch up mechanics” that blizzard gives us, the drop rate is INCREDIBLY low - at least from pvp.

When you do 200+ rated arena matches, 2s and 3s, and you don’t get a single renown drop, I think its fair to provide feedback about it. When you factor q times and match length of roughly 5 mins, we’re looking at nearly 15-20 hours worth of active play time.

I didn’t “whine” about the system. I provided what I have done, what my experience was regarding very low drop rates - hint, not a single renown token - and proposed a possible solution to prevent terrible rng.

Is that not what we should be using the forums for?
