Hello. My subscription runs out in a day, and I have around 20k golds in my main character. I wanted to buy wow token from the auction house, but it isn’t letting me; it is asking me to consume my whole subscription first (something similar to this). Now, if my subscription runs out, how can I buy the token? I do not wish to use dollars to renew my subscription at the moment.
Is this in Mists Classic? Because the price in Retail is waaaay more than 20K. According to wowauction.us , Token price is around 10K on Classic, so I assume that’s what you mean.
Not that I think it makes a difference; just nice to be clear.
The relevant Help article is
https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/article/31218
and you can choose Classic Progression and I Want Game Time.
Everything there is as I would suspect.
However, there is also this:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/restriction-on-purchase-of-wow-token-%E2%80%93-november-2023/1714609
In order to preserve the integrity of the game and provide a better token market to players, with an update to World of Warcraft on Tuesday, November 21, we will enable the following restriction in this region.
• Players will no longer be allowed to purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House or the in-game Shop for gold if they have not spent real money to purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time (a “Time Limited License”) since 2017.
This does not affect the consumption of existing WoW Tokens, however, game time provided by the consumption of a WoW Token does not count toward the qualification to purchase a WoW Token for gold.
After November 21, 2023, any player who cannot purchase a WoW Token for gold in-game will need to first purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time for real money. This can be done on any World of Warcraft account across the player’s Battle.net account to qualify.
Is this your case? Have you bought just 30 days of Game Time, and now you want to buy a Token with Gold? (And if so, do tell us how you managed to make that much gold in 30 days!
)
If you have purchased just one 30-day period with money, then, as I understand the rules, you must first completely finish the 30 days before buying a Token.
When your Game Time has expired, you can purchase and consume a WoW Token directly from the character select screen. Each character on the selected realm will contribute gold to the price of buying the WoW Token, including gold in characters’ mailboxes.
It would be helpful to clarify
- If you have paid with money for only one 30-day Game Time and
- Exactly what is the message the AH gives you?
but I think this is the answer.
I know that in Retail, at least, the process of buying a Token when your game time has expired is very easy and quick. There is just a big button on the screen asking you to do it. I presume it is the same in Mists.
