Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the manuscripts, because it’s always just for one drake— and usually never the drake I actually use.
I got lucky with the Day of the Dead one, because the Wylderdrake is the one I use all the time. It’s also a favorite holiday of mine.
I wish they’d make these available to be used on every drake.

Genuine question, why does anyone want it?
it’s ok to go just a little while without taking your frustrations out on others.
would the op care as much about the manuscript, if they didn’t have the mount?
how about we focus on the issue of the mount being unobtainable first?
It matches the cash shop outfit, most likely. Some people like their proto drakes. Some people like collecting manuscripts. Holiday stuff is fun. Just a few guesses.

That’s part of the same issue: low droprate RNG on a holiday item isn’t fun and the design they semi-implemented for this holiday refresh was good design: on a vendor for high cost that takes about the entire event to earn.
I personally want to see the rocket moved to that same model and the manuscript. If the currency is raised in the holiday boss drop and they raise the ilevel of the gear pieces that drop in there, people will need to run the holiday boss for the currency and the gear pieces will actually be useful, giving them another reason to keep running it, as well.
All of that covers the bad arguments of, “you just want it handed to you” and “no one will run the boss if there isn’t something to get from it.”

Who’s the guy on the developer team who said, “hey, how about we add another love-rocket RNG type thing to the holiday boss?” What was that conversation like? Who thinks adding another thin layer of yearly disappointment for many players is a GOOD idea for holiday events?
I like dragonriding; holy hell do I hate dragon couture. Not the actual customization of it mind you, just having to hunt down these low % drops from all over the World just to have my mount not look as derpy as the base customizations they gave us.
I wish the manuscript was on the vendor for gold or for tokens. Until then, there will be no love seat for my proto-drake.

Yep. If you get it as a drop that’s neat but being able to target it for 270 tokens would be nice.

Got the worthless manuscript, will trade or throw it away for the rocket mount instead.
Rocket > Dragon saddle trash
I wish for the Holiday stuff the Manuscripts would give all the drakes holiday themed custom markings instead of armors. Like Skeletal marking Highland drake would be awesome.

Imagine You’re a developer and you come to the forums only to find half the players want what you made, but are upset because the RNG drop chance is trash…
And the other half of the players complaining that it’s a trash reward.
….I guess if you make your bed…
104 kills a day since day 1 now and I still don’t have the manuscript. It should have just been 50k like in the past. This feels silly at this point.
And to just show my annoyance. My 2 real life friends both only did 1 kill per day (for the boosted drop rate chance) and both got the Manuscript. OOF.

How rare is it? I got it off my first or second run and done the dungeon like three times this year. I thought it was a common item.
This is the 12th day, I have about 30 to go, so I’m over 1,200 kills already (will end today at 1,248). Either it’s super ultra mega rare, or the game is bugged and just won’t drop for me.
It’s this really bad rng for this game. You are on either end of being lucky or being really bad luck. There a mount so the harness should have been a common item that everyone could have by the end of the holiday.
Funny thing is I got the mount years ago (before they did the increased drop rate first kill thing, hence why I have so many toons).
Honestly this season has been terrible for me with RNG. I"ve been doing 24 plate characters a week since start of season as well for the Legendary from Fyrakk. I’m approaching 300 kills on that as well (across the various levels of LFR, Normal, and Heroic) and still no leggo.
These posts just let Blizzard know what there doing is working cause it shows that players are logging into the game once a day for a chance on a item. That and if you don’t get it this year there’s a chance of players staying subscribed for another year to get the chance again.
It screaming more $$$ for them.
dunno why people say stuff like this.
if people weren’t going to continue to play, why would they care about the items?
does everything have to be a conspiracy?
They could have put the Love is in the Air manuscripts on a vendor and charged an additional 50 love tokens, which is what you get from “donating” 50K gold to the artisans, if they wanted it to be “harder” to acquire. In my opinion, the drake armor manuscript should be sent to you in a valentine card if you made the achievement.
I left mounts out of my post because they’re a whole different ballgame compared to mount skins, pets, and the like, and wanted to keep it focused on these other items instead as much as possible. The X-45 Heartbreaker was only mentioned for a comparison to further my point.
The X-45 Heartbreaker and Headless Horseman’s Mount have been around since Cataclysm and BC respectively. There have been years upon years of discussion surrounding the rarity of these mounts, and Blizzard is well aware of public opinion. Do I think they should be so rare? Absolutely not. No one should be subjected to running dozens of alts through content available for only two weeks, or 4%, of the year. Blizzard actually agrees with this, hence the change made last year that increases your odds of receiving the mount from the first loot box you open per day. But they did not go far enough. I think, at worst, they should just keep dropped mounts a flat 1% chance every time. At best, I believe they could have made them cost a sizeable chunk of the associated currency, but not have that currency expire when the event ends. This is exactly how the Darkmoon Prize Tickets work, actually, and it’s great.
My point was more so that the other items should not be treated the same as these mounts because they are, generally speaking, less valuable. This is a new trend that really began with Dragonflight’s changes to holiday events. I feel there is no valid reason to gate them behind such low drop chance odds.
