Rename Void Elves and expand their lore

No, we have void elves, not blood elves nor pure high elves, deal with it.

Oh I know, they can give Blood Elves Druids or Shaman! Because that makes about as much sense as Void Elf Paladins.

What?? They’re getting new skin options to look like high elves. That’s literally it. That’s what folks wanted and we got it. They even gave the same things to blood elves so folks can play a high elf paladin too.

Yall are just looking extremely greedy now.

I agree. I think my biggest concern is maintaining racial identity. I don’t mind sharing some skin tones and eye colors with void elves; that doesn’t harm me one bit. But a lot of Belf identity is based on Blood Knights, and I would personally feel like Blizzard would be copying and pasting our unique race into the Alliance should Void Elves ever receive that class. Doesn’t really make sense.

Void Elves are meant to be dark and mysterious. Warlocks, mages, rogues, etc.

Void elf priest healers don’t either.

I said in another thread that it would be cool if they ever made a different class for them instead of paladin, like void warrior or something. But paladin just would not work.

Exactly, and despite what people seem to think these days, that kinda stuff still matters.

If this game becomes World of Homogenizationcraft it will lose everything that made it special.

Please stop trying to hijack my race :frowning:

Like, do people honestly not see anything wrong with this scenario?

Scenario:

Nobody wanted anything to do with us when we had dark skin. Now that we are getting lighter skin options and blue eye color options, the high elf camp has moved in, keeps trying to refer to us as high elves, change our culture, and start making demand for Paladins with blond hair all so they can live their fantasy of a pale/blond/blue eyed elf.

Does anyone else see what I’m getting at here? It’s all soundin’ pretty low key racist to me at this point lol.

That could be something to look into, and might be a super cool idea. The issue with new race-locked classes is a similar issue we see here, in this very thread: People complaining about what they should and shouldn’t get. It’s almost… entitlement? But not quite.

Every race would likely have to receive an individual class, and man. That’s a lot of work.

Where is anyone asking for new races?

Asking for Blizzard to give Void Elves the paladin class is currently wouldn’t make much sense, but if they’re actually getting cured, why would it be a problem? If they’re not being cured and they were supposed to look this way the whole time, then that’s fine, they shouldn’t get paladins.

If that is literally the case, then yeah, it’s perfectly fine to leave paladins locked for them. But we don’t even know if that is the case yet, and since it might be more than just that, why not let Blizzard know that some people support the idea of giving them the paladin class? I don’t see how it’s asking for too much or how we’re being greedy? Everyone’s grateful for what Blizzard are doing.

Yeah. It would be something to look into if they ever decide to do class customizations or something, like night elf paladins that wield moonlight or… uh… void elf paladins or priests that use void instead of light. I can’t think of anymore at the moment but you get it lol

Dunno about you but when the renamed high elves started to glow purple and voidy, I get that void elf feeling… oh wait they are INDEED void elves! my mystake!

Yeah, but I don’t think they’re being cured. They are still Void Elves. Having regular toned skin doesn’t make them any less of a Void Elf. Void is still coursing through their veins. They’ll still have tentacles in their hair. They’ll still have void forms.

We don’t know what’s happening to them yet. If they’re not changing at all, then I don’t really care much about them getting paladins or not. But I feel like such a drastic change should imply something radical happening? These guys were literally turned blue/purple, how could they just go back without something big happening?

I’m not so sure about that. When Blood Elves got golden eye options in-game, it broke a lot of traditional norms for how Belfs should look. And as far as I know, there were no radical in-game alterations to accompany that except for a few notes squiggled into lore about something that had already been happening for quite some time; purification, such as seen in the Blood Knights and major lore figures.

Unless I’m not caught up with recent more (which is a possibility), Void Elves don’t have any current purification processes. I was under the assumption that they valued the Void, and embraced it.

So, naturally, we can expect a similar trend with Void Elves skin tone customizations to the new eye color options Blood Elves received in BFA. Yeah, Alleria has a normal skin tone just like Lady Liadrin had golden eyes. The golden eye option didn’t make them any less Blood Elf, similar to how the regular skin option probably won’t make Void Elves any less… void.

I can’t see the future and can’t predict how this will go, but considering allied races weren’t supposed to be receiving any new customization options, I assume that this is just a band aid on the high elf crusade. An inch. Don’t try to grasp that mile until we know for sure what the future holds.

Get out of here with these constructive good ideas. Instead they will be an allied race with a conveniently discounted Faction Change and Race change thing on the store.

I think a more accurate comparison would be Ren’dorei to the Felblood Elves. Both thalassians went through a radical change brought on by their respective magics. Blood Elves were only mildly tainted by the fel crystals, so them getting ‘cured’ isn’t that much of a big deal.

Seeing Void Elves change back into their normal forms would basically be the same thing as seeing Felblood Elves changing back into their normal forms. It’s pretty drastic and I think would imply some kind of ideology change for both groups. Maybe the Void Elves are more neutral about their approach to Void magics, etc.

But what you’re saying makes sense, and if Blizzard does decide that it’s just a cosmetic thing, I’ll still be very happy with what we’re getting.

Did you read the OP?

Yes? Nobody’s asking for new races. It’d basically be like asking for what Mag’har have, and if they’re allowed to have multiple clans represented in a single race, why can’t Void Elves?

So asking for the name to be change to High Elf, asking for all other HE be added to the group, asking for new class combos associated with non-VE, and you are trying to say that is all not asking for a new race?

So yes, give a mouse a cookie.
