Remulos Population Decline

Hello.

Remulos has been in a steady population decline since mid 2023. As of right now, Ironforge reports a population of 96a/42h.
As an alliance player of this server, over the course of Cata, I have noticed the disappearance of both raiding and leveling guilds.

The raiding guilds that remain are few in number, roughly 5, and unable to clear heroic content. The first H Rag kill was achieved after HoT was released, and after the 30% nerf was in place (I do not believe there has even been a second kill)
Most raid teams are filling rosters by reusing the same half a dozen players who have been rotating between alts. There are not enough players left to fill these teams with unique players, construct new raid teams, or form pugs.

The AH lacks resources for players to purchase. No one is gathering ore or herbs, prospecting gems, fishing or performing other activities to fuel player activity. Inferno Rubies have tripled in price since the release of HoT due to the skyrocketing demand of red gems for the new gear, and severe lack of supply. Players have resorted to using suboptimal gems just to fill the socket. This issue alone has prompted players in one of the better remaining raiding guilds to begin pushing for the entire guild to leave the server.

As Remulos is the last remaining OCE PvE realm, I believe special attention should be given to the state of this server. It is unlikely that the release of MoP will revive the population of this server. Actually, I believe returning players will disproportionately choose healthier servers to resume their play. Remulos in its current state is likely doomed to a slow decay, as we’ve seen with many other classic progression servers.

Having spoken to players about the state of the population. I believe it would be a popular choice to merge Remulos with Arugal and enable a warmode feature so as to not force players into a PvP only arrangement.
If this solution is not viable, I believe many players would settle for free transfers, however this would come to the detriment of the players who remain.

In any case, please take the time to consider options for the players of this server.
Thanks

I have seen you posting this a lot in various classic threads, but I don’t feel like the server is dead at all now that we’re in MoP. We’re able to down world bosses multiple times a week and I expect to lead my guild through heroic raids quite soon. We’re 6/6 MSV and have the first boss of HoF down, and that’s with missing the first week of raiding. We have 10-30+ people online in my guild every day, depending on time of day.

For some reason, the forums picked my newbiest character. Here’s my main - if you’re alliance, you probably recognize me from LFG chat from organizing world boss kills.

Think you have me confused for someone else. I’ve only posted this once.

I still believe it would be beneficial for the server to be merged. Or at least for instanced content to be done with players on US Realms. I don’t understand why you can join an arena and be matched against US players, but I can’t raid or dungeon with US players.

This issue alone has prompted players in one of the better remaining raiding guilds to begin pushing for the entire guild to leave the server

Sadly, this did come to fruition. That leaves 3 10 man teams on alliance side that will be progging on heroic content (4 if Dragons Heart indeed does prog on Heroics)
The realm still only has 1 25 man team being organized on alliance side.
I don’t know what the horde side looks like. Apparently The Risen are doing ok as far as I understand. But I think they’re the only raiding horde guild on the server?

AH lacks resources for players to purchase

This is still a problem in mop. Compare AH prices to prices on Arugal. We’re paying 3x for Golden Lotus and Ethereal Shards. Darkmoon cards cost ~1-4K on Arugal, and ~5-10K on Remulos.

I know there’s a certain charm to playing on a low pop server. But the game was not designed to operate at population levels this low. It will be hard to find players to engage in all the content. In the original run of the game, low pop servers were slated for merger by this point. This should now be considered for Classic.
