Nope. “I had to jump through stupid hoops that I hated, so now EVERYONE should have to jump through stupid hoops that they hate!” is dumb, selfish, and spiteful. I’ve been trying to figure out which logical fallacy it is, but so far the closest name I could come up with is “all of academia”.
If you got those achievements, then you got to fly in those zones before Shadowlands came out. That’s your reward. Congrats. That was my reward, too, and I’m still glad I got it, and still glad other people don’t have to do that god-awful slog.
How awful would it be for newer players leveling their second character to accidentally choose a Pathfinder expansion instead of one where they just need a license at 30? This is the only decision that makes sense.
you grinded to have early access pretty much for it for 2 years, not forever. Now everyone is getting it for free, theres no problem. Likely the same to happen in SL where you grind pathfinder then next expansion its free. doesn’t mean its a waste since you were able to do it early for a few years
It’s fine. The achieves will still be there if people want the extra perks. WoD seems like a lifetime ago tbh and with the new leveling system they need to remove the old pathfinders so people can choose to level in WoD or Legion if they want. Not a big deal.
I think it’s fine. It’s not “free”, though. If they want to fly, they still have to buy flying on that character. And if they want the mount from WoD, or faster mount speed in Legion, they still have to do PF.
buying it means you earned it. I think a fair analogy would be what if you built your home that took your blood, sweat, and tears to complete, then companies start making duplicates of your house around your area and give it out for free to all those interested?
Not the person you are responding to, but why would I? I didn’t personally obtain the achievement to lord it over the heads of people who may not have been around to do it when current. I wouldn’t go, “Neener neener neener, I’ve got Pathfinder and you don’t!”
It may have taken some time, but I did it so I can fly. Not to brag that I can fly. And like you said, it can take time to finish. So you want people whom weren’t around during WoD/Legion to spend god knows how long in outdated content just so they can have some convenience for alt leveling?
My only problem is that they are not including BfA with this.
Obviously, no (sane) person would want to keep the Pathfinder prerequisite to flying in WoD/Legion content because we’d most likely want to move on to more current content.
Still not a correct analogy. It would be you designing and building the house yourself, but the people in the area decide they like the design but not the process of building it themselves, so they buy the design and have someone else do it for them.
It’s great that it was removed, it’s way old content now and should be more accessible for people.
It’s really up to how you want to view it. Does the grind matter more or the end reward? Part of progress is moving forward and improving on things. It doesn’t invalidate your effort, you’ve enjoyed flying for all these years and nothing changes for you with it being made more available.
It’s like if you had to spend years walking some miles to get to school. Then someone adds a bus route nearby so future kids don’t have to do that. Better to be happy for others that the QoL improved, there’s no need to feel upset that it wasn’t there in your day. The result is the same.
Doesn’t bother me at all. WoD PF is a bit annoying, but Legion’s comes for “free” for anybody who played the game for the majority of the xpac… it was only really “work” for players who showed up late or tried to tiptoe through and skip things. In my case I turned in a quest and was like, “oh, I can fly now. cool” and then kept forgetting I had flight for the next two weeks.
The reality is that this is a non-issue that the OP is trying to turn into outrage bait.
Folks who jump into the game in Shadowlands can get WoD and Legion flying easily? So what! It doesn’t matter. You put in the effort either when it was current or after it was trivial, you can rest on those laurels and say that you ‘didn’t buy WoD/Legion flying’ that you ‘earned it’.
Honestly, folks who get upset that someone, who is not them, can get something easier than they did are the worst kinds of people.
