I am curious what the reasoning behind this was? What took them 10-12 years (or more) to make this change?
Was it too hard? Are battleground queues too long to justify the achievement? Could a replacement not be made?
As someone who does not like pvp at all, this achievement was very frustrating and hard for me to do, but I still did it, because I wanted a prestigious mount the displayed both hard work and dedication.
It’s not like this has been a limited time thing either, people can and do still get this mount every year since it’s release. Consider it a seasonal mount on a personal timer. You didn’t get love rocket this year, you try again next year. You don’t get the children’s week achievements this year, try again next year.
When you create a reward that is hard earned and then diminish it’s value by removing requirements, you make the people who actually earned the reward at it’s fullest and most proper measure feels cheated.
But then again why do I even bother. Blizzard doesn’t care and everyone who reads this will tell me to stop whining. =\
how come u dint go waa waa on the forms ? can make it 11 year , step up the waa waa get good like me i waa waa all the tim , eventaley u gonna get any thig u want
i do have a complant , bc i gotta get level 10 on any char i wanna go on wow form do a waa waa , make it lowers ty so i can do waa waa but dont gotta level so hi
Does it not bothering you mean that it automagically bothers me less though? Is that how it works? I bet the snow in Canada doesn’t bother you if you live in Brazil too.
If I recall, back in the day I made an effort to get it because it offered 310% flying speed (something that was somewhat rare back in the day) but I could be totally wrong.
I did it when I was an absolute noob, back when it never occurred to me to complain someplace like the forums. I genuinely cannot remember it being that difficult. But times change so it may have somehow gotten harder?
Looking at the list of achievements it’s easy to see how it is difficult comparatively to the criteria achievements.
Good for people who haven’t got it yet, I’m personally not bothered.
Got it ages ago, didn’t feel cheated in the slightest. I’m glad they’ve removed that achievement, it isn’t even a well designed achievement and encourages degenerate gameplay that interrupts people who actually PvP. Everyone is usually gunning for the objectives of the achievement and not caring about playing the battleground itself. Locking a meta mount behind that is just not a good idea.
Other achievements have been removed from various mount meta achievements, this one may have taken a while because it’s one week every year compared to a constant thing. Either way, I’m glad it was removed.
I do not understand people with tiny ego’s that need things to be “special”. It’s a video game that we pay monthly for. Most things should be available for everyone. As for the achievement it does not bother me. Did it over a decade ago. If they want to make the meta achieve easier I do not care.
Somebody in another thread made the excellent comparison of objections to forgiving student debt, when everybody had to pay off theirs previously. “Everyone must suffer as I have suffered.”
This is a change that should have happened many years ago, not only because it’s aggravating to have to play against your own team for the caps, but the pvpers have this disrupting their games.
Also, I now have the Matron title and didn’t ever get that achievement, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Instead of removing the requirement, they should have simply made it so that you get credit for the objectives if anyone on your team gets them while you have your orphan out. That would have encouraged teamwork more and would have been less disruptive overall to the BGs.
