It has been suggested that tanks and healers are not actually required for this content and that putting 5 to 25 DPS in charge of their own actions and survival is possible. So Blizzard I have a suggestion:
I want to put this theory to the test by creating one dungeon and one raid in a future expansion where picking a role is not a requirement. All roles will still exist, but you simply don’t pick one to queue up. You go in as you are not knowing if there are any tanks or healers And simply give it a go.
I would love to see the outcome of taking the traditional roles out of the equation to see if 5 to 25 DPS could actually survive either this one dungeon or one raid by managing their own health pool. I say if it’s successful, we remove the role requirement, but not necessarily the roles themselves. If it fails, then I’d love that data as well for very selfish reasons.

Just make your own group and see how that works out. You dont need Blizz to help you test this.
(P.S. You know how its going to go unless Blizz intentionally designs it so that you dont need a tank or healer.)

Those were called scenarios and weren’t that popular at the time.

They’re not needed for timewalking, and probably heroic dungeons by now.
LFR … maybe? idk. I’ve had fury warriors tank Rashok before, I think that was normal though.
Normal raid.
If wasn’t normal, definitely lfr.

Delves. You’re describing delves.

Oh, I don’t even wanna do it. That’s why I don’t do group content in SWTOR anymore. I’m more or less interested just to see the whole thing implode or succeed
you think a raid or a dungeon full of just healers is going to succeed? Good luck.

no thanks, we don’t need to degrade the trinity more than it already has been in trivial content

This is the future. The sooner the producers embrace it, the better. They could pave the way, but they’ll probably just copy someone else’s superior format like usual.
Not yet, but it won’t be long until nobody can queue because of this archaic bottleneck.
It’s been fine for the last 20 years, it’ll be fine for the next 20 years.

Time will tell, obviously. I feel like it’s gotten progressively worse, especially in less popular games, which have been forced to largely abandon the trinity. Most recent example is Overwatch. Tanks are just fat DPS. Healing is minimal and regeneration outside of combat was introduced last year.
Easy content or not, I’d like to see what a tankless LFR would look like. Dodging avoidable mechanics is one thing, but I don’t know if the average DPS player in LFR is up to the task of tanking enemy autoattacks or tankbuster mechanics. And then there’s the fact that the enemies will be running all over the place due to frequent aggro changes.

Oh, I would be interested to see it happen. That’s why I suggested one dungeon and one raid just to test it out. They don’t even have to do anything special. They just remove the roll from the queue screen when it comes time you queue up and you call it a day. Doesn’t matter what’s spec you’re playing
If they kill the Holy Trinity this game will nose dive so fast.
You want MOBA?
Not me.

No, I just want to prove that tanks and healers are still very relevant to this game.
SWTOR did this. It was… okay, but not great. Then they allowed all others to be run with whatever group make up. And it’s a disaster.
This concept is terrible.

I know, and I am attempting to prove it. Another Evoker known for their argumentative discussion style insists that tanks and healers are an outdated concept and not needed in most, if not all content. Players can “manage themselves”.
Oh, I have that one in ignore again. lol
