Removing rewards for untimed keys would fix a lot of issues

Now that I am attempting 12’s - I noticed a big thing that makes them go smooth.

Either the run is good -you time it, or if over time, it’s just barely

OR if a run goes badly, everyone agrees to abandon. No fuss. Nobody wants to continue for no score, since if you’re in 12’s you’re likely there FOR score/timing keys to get resil etc

Issue in low keys, you have people preforming badly who don’t want to quit cause they know they can still get score from over timed keys, and also vault credit. Which causes issues when some people want to quit, and some do not.

Make all keys like a +12. Make it so goal is ALWAYS to time it, and when it becomes obvious it wont time, there will be a lot less disagreements over leavers/quitting etc. If you know you wont get anything for over timed keys, you will want to quit too so a lot less disagreements over when to end a key.

Also, make all key levels into resil. Timed all on a +5? Congrats, your key will never go lower then a +5 unless you lower it manually.

I really think if we remove the vault rewards for failed keys, you will less people pushing keys they do not belong in just to get a high ilvl item in the vault.

Make the #1 goal about keys to actually TIME the key - Want score? Time it. Want vault? Time it.

A lot less wasted time and drama if we can get everyone on the same page within a key.

I’ve been saying this for a while. Objectively it would be better for the game mode. Unfortunately there would be a ridiculous amount of crying from the “we want free loot” crowd and I doubt Blizzard has the balls to do it.

Yes, but also a lot less people willing to take chances on appropriately geared people.

Its already hard for casuals to get into M+ in general…this would make it much worse

I didn’t know you get score for untimed keys.

I dunno, I did all 10’s then jumped to 12’s. People don’t seem to care that I haven’t done 11’s :person_shrugging:

Depending how over time you are, but all the way through a +10 you can get score from over timed keys. Though I did a +12 just a few seconds over, and it didn’t give me score - somehow my +10 timed was better

Fair, my Warlock couldn’t even get into 10’s and I just gave up and ditched her lol.

Bad idea to remove reward for untimed keys. Very often people want to complete keys anyway at 10 or lower (but especially at 10) for vault credit, and this acts as a significant consolation for a key failing to be timed for most of the people present.

You would be reducing one source of drama, which is relatively rare, and replacing it with sore attitudes for every untimed key for every player in the group. Much worse environment. It would also discourage people from taking less geared friends on runs.

A better approach would be to make available as information whether a person’s vault status will improve from a run. For example, if you’re doing a 10 (most common goal for the vault), it would put a symbol next to each applicant who has already filled their vault with mythic track gear in the dungeon slots.

At 10 and lower, this would allow the person forming the group to fill it with people they know ahead of time are likely to want to stay (because they’ll still gain something from finishing) or people who will all be agreeable to abandoning (if you invite the people whose vaults are already filled).

Also, for categorizing, Blizzard just needs to make it into two categories, rather than three. People tend to form default category groups and have little thought process during formation about how much they’re on the same page as the other players. Remove the default category, just rename “completion” into “fill vault,” and make it so players have to choose between a “fill vault” group or a “beat timer” group.

These two changes would keep the better reward system in place, and greatly help players be attuned to each other’s goals before starting.

And that is exactly what Im talking about. It’s bad now…and it would be so much worse if they followed your OP

I think with the change I said about all key levels being able to become resil would help offset that by a lot :person_shrugging:

Not everyone even cares to fill their vault. I know I don’t. I just do a few keys a week for score and that’s it. And I wont get score, I don’t want to finish :person_shrugging:
