being forced into having a bird is bad for both people who want pets and people who DONT want pets, cause that means every MM is forced to use a specific pet bird that may or may not fit their desired class fantasy and thats bad design
No it wasnt and it was fun to play…
That pretty much sums it up yea … although i want my ranged survival.spec back… have them just create a ranger class and leave the hunter class as it is with pets
i mean have u played the game lately? doesnt exactly instill me with confidence that the devs have even the faintest inkling of what they are doing. no grand unified vision
I play LW 100% of the time I am mm and when I need a pet I… Swap to bm because it’s a hundred times better for using a pet.
And even though there was ‘backlash’ about removing pets, pet dmg buff has never been demanded of the MM class fantasy to make it competitive with Lone Wolf. There have only ever been asks that it operate like Grimoire of Sacrifice.
Until MM can ditch pets and not have to worry about it at all, it can’t be balanced properly around relevant content.
I think the lack of request for a buff comes from that the people who wanted pet gone entirely, are usually the ones pushing the hardest content and wanting the most numbers. The casuals aren’t chasing world first, or high end mythic content (Raids or Dungeons), they don’t need the biggest numbers, and in normal dungeon and normal LFR having a damage nerf for your pet isn’t a “spec killer” for being unoptimal, so if they want to take the pet, they simply will and they wont care about the DPS loss.
so switch specs
If that were true then those people would be a very odd stand out, because people complain a lot about their suboptimal build being weak or not supported regardless of what level of content they do. Like SMF, or the really weird people that want 2H enhancement back…
People don’t talent out of Lone Wolf, even casuals as evidenced previously in the thread, and they’re not doing content where it matters.
Adaia, I believe the starter option for setting talents auto picks LW. Could be why you see many people have it who use their pets. I didn’t pay much attention until recently. But I redid my talents and I’ll see how much better it works w/o LW.
It’s pointless to go nitpicking and using little to no real numbers (because NO one has them) to attempt to make any points.
It’s kind of laughable.
my question is, what is “Content that matters”, is it just Mythic raid/dungeon? because that content only matters to people pushing content, which is a small portion of the playerbase, most players won’t get out of LFR/Normal raids, and above heroic dungeons, let alone chase world firsts or high end mythic. And why would they bother when you can literally just buy a high end mythic run and not have to bother with all the other requirements that high end needs.
I don’t believe any one content matters more than others.
It burns my bridges that there is anyone who plays this game and believes what they do is more important than what I do or what others do.
I agree entirely with that, All Content is relevant, maybe not to every player, but its all relevant to the player base. Achivement chasing is relevant, plenty of players do that. Fashion is relevant, god knows WoW has been steadily improving fashion hunting (The true end game), mount collecting, toy collecting, pet collecting, explorations, treasure hunting, theirs tons of content in the game, even if we discount the RP scene because those guys kinda make their own content (And good for them, Rp’ers are a large chunk of WoW’s playerbase and are happy to just kinda exist). I’m plenty happy for raiders/mythic runners to have their slice of the pie, but they really gotta get over this notion that their content is the “only content that matters”.
2% is not a majority
No, you can view logged data and see that the amount of MM players who are using their pet at all is very, very low.
Raid and Mythic + is what Blizzard based tuning and class design around so yes that’s what relevant content is.
They do not make tuning or design changes based on solo players, delvers or world players
Having pets out is a choice.
Not having pets, and using Lone Wolf, is a choice.
Having that removed and being forced to use a hawk/eagle, that’s just removing choice as well as roleplaying/class fantasy potential.
It’s a bad decision.
And I’m going to continue to believe it’s bad until there’s at least cosmetic options to change the hawk into something fitting for other, non-elf races.
Regardless of how well new MM plays, it’s still stepping on the toes of Hunters that have a specific class fantasy, like a Dwarven sniper or Gnomish sharpshooter, Troll bowyer, what-have-you.
Wanting pets is a subjective discussion that I’m tired of arguing with. I think MM would be better off with a more defined theme that doesn’t have to balance the scales between having and not having pets, you don’t, neither of us will budge on this
Regarding needing pets however, it is an objective fact that you do not. In group play it’s a full on dps loss, in PvP you’re getting the utility that pets provided baseline, in delves Brann is getting a tank spec, and in the overworld anything that doesn’t just pancake your pet in 2 hits can be solo’d without one with no issue
Um… not when I started with WoW (have always been Marks).
These days I just want my pet for RP, to be honest. Other Marks players use them for other things though. Back in the day, there were times when I saved a wipe by pulling out a tank pet when the player tank went down. Your Earth Elemental cd idea wouldn’t work in that circumstance. I had to actively use my pet the whole fight. But I haven’t been in that scenario in forever.
Overall, I just don’t understand Blizz’s need to make a completely non-pet hunter. I almost feel a completely different class would be a better idea (but we know they won’t do that). That’s why leaving Marks alone and making a new spec seems like a better idea to me. In the end, Blizz is gonna do what Blizz is gonna do, and all this discussion is fairly meaningless.
