#REMOVEVOIDFORM
Canât stand it at all. Revert original shadowform back too. Purple tentacle fart isnât cool. Orbs/ravens were fun and aesthetically pleasing and I miss dark archangel glyph when you used DP. I miss my psychic vampire SHADOW priest
With Clarity of Power you basically had 2 ways to play it. People gave them the names âDot Weavingâ style and âCoP Lightâ. I will explain.
Firstly for what CoP isâŠ
Clarity of Power: Your Mind Spike, Mind Sear, and Shadow Word : Death deal 40% additional damage to targets not affected by your Shadow Word : Pain or Vampiric Touch. Also reduces the cooldown on Mind Blast by 3 sec and makes it instant cast.
Secondly, the interaction between orbs and the talent âinsanityâ.
Insanity: Consuming Shadow Orbs transforms your Mind Flay into Insanity, and your Mind Sear into Searing Insanity, for 2 sec per Shadow Orb consumed. These spells deals 100% additional damage.
Lastly, when you use Mind Spike, it removes your dots from the target if you have any on it (that is important to know).
Note: Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death acted liked âBuildersâ in that they grant shadow orbs at base and both had a CD so you couldnât spam them. Then you can take the talent âAuspicious Spiritsâ to get more Shadow Orbs from Shadow Word: Pain CRITICAL damage ticks. But that was a Max level talent that competes with CoP.
CoP used in âDot Weavingâ worked in the way that you start fights by casting Mind Blast and then fill in with Mind Spike until Mind Blast came off CD. You continue this until you reached 4 orbs. Then you apply your Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Touch followed by Mind Blast to get 5 orbs then you cast Devouring plague consuming 3 orbs and with the talent âInsanityâ you cast mind flays until Mind Blast is off CD then cast that Mind Blast to get back to 3 orbs and followed up with another Devouring Plague and finish off with Mind Flays until MB is off cd again. At that point your dots will be dropping off target and you start building up again back to 4-5 orbs and repeat etc.
Things to note:
You are able to generate Shadow Orbs via Shadow Word: Death. But since you could only use this on targets at 20% health or lower, it was not part of the specâs normal rotation and that once you get to the 20% range, then the rotation changes as you can double tap SW:D and using MB to get 3 orbs and begin to use Mind Flay Insanity a lot more often where it was almost worthless to recast your other dots because of the high up-time on Devouring Plague, Deaths, and Mind Flay Insanity.
- Its worth noting that even if your main target might not be at the 20% range, you can âsnipeâ low health targets with SW:D to quickly built up orbs to keep high DPS up time. This was VERY satisfying to pull off and as such, you were always on the lookout for low health targets to snipe orbs from as it felt good to do that instant ranged execute massive damage and gain orbs to dump into DP and MFI into your main target.
âCoP Lightâ
This involves taking the talent âFrom Darkness comes Lightâ over âInsanityâ
From Darkness comes Light: Periodic damage from your Vampiric Touch has a 20% chance to cause your next Mind Spike to not consume your damage-over-time effects, become instant cast, cost no mana, and deal 50% additional damage. Limit 2 charges.
The way to play this is to start dotting up all your targets and usually by the time your first targets dots are falling off or you leave 1 target dotless, then you get procs from all your VT dots to start unloading massive + damage modifiers into 1 dotless target when you can go back to back from casting Mind Blasts into Mind Spikes into Devouring Plagues into Shadow Word: Deaths for massive burst damage windows. I used this a lot in 5 mans and PvP. Its weakness was single target only fights but in groups of targets it worked great.
I put several videos in a thread post that show off the various playstyles of both these specs. Link is below.
#remove void form, from SHADOW priests.
void form is cool though, it should just be balanced better perhaps.
it looks cool and is fun to use and is a fun mechanic.
The Alpha Class feedback forum shows otherwise.
Priest class feedback forum has more support in concerns with Void Form and the general state of Shadow in SL with a massive amount of likes compared to the rest of the class forums.
Druid is 2nd place with over 100 likes for top post. Priest has over 400 likes and multiple 100+ likes posts.
Yet those classes and those posting and liking are not considered in the âminorityâ from your perspective iâm betting correct? If they are then I guess its the minority voices that blizzard are listening to (at least when it comes to other classes) as whether you like or dislike x about your class, it should be represented with a post and backed by likes on the official SL alpha class feedback thread and I challenge you to find a âpositiveâ void form post with enough likes to overshadow the negative void form posts. You wont find it.
Thatâs the thing though, we have discussed this for years from the Legion Beta to current times and blizzard have yet to fix it. It has only gotten worse with each iteration from Legion to BFA to SL. They have spent 4+ years and its only getting worse, not better.
The only way to âFixâ it is to remove its identity as it currently exists mechanically. Because simply put, Ramp up mechanics DO NOT WORK in how wow is deigned.
This has been discussed at length but for quick little nibbles of examplesâŠ
- Any intermission phase of fights benefit all classes except for Priest because they have extra time that their DPS CDâs get to finish cooling down. Priest on the other hand, it just resets our ramp and we have to start all over again. Most times its resets right before we hit our max potential or just as we do.
Its like standing up for the first time and getting knocked down instantly while everyone else is running around having fun. - Any fights with movement causes Void Form to be reset at worse or cut severally short at best as any movement beyond a a single GCD causes the entire specs damage to plummet back down to zero and forced to start up again. This is because we can fit a GCD worth of instant cast Void Bolt. But everything else we need to hard cast in order to prolong the passive increasingly decaying nature of Insanity Drain and thus knock you out sooner then expected.
- Every GCD is used to build insanity be it to get into Void Form or to stay in Void form. Meaning if you use any priest utility spell (we have a lot) then you are punished for DPS efficiency for as not only does it cost a GCD but while in Void Form, it could cascade and cost you MASSIVE amounts of damage as it could lead to a short Void Form window and thus reset all your damage again.
- In PvP, as soon as you enter Void Form, you can easily be silenced, interrupted, feared, stunned and just any CC to force your Void Form to end prematurely and thus heavily cripple your damage potential and you loose access to half of your spec mechanics as for example, Void Bolt is only usable in Void Form. So you cant even cast some of your rotational abilities. This is really bad on Priest because we have no reliable way to Kite, CC, snare, Root etc. We are an easy target to tunnel into and shut down. So in doing so this flawed Void Form mechanic hit us massively when if you compare to Mage or Warlock, Mage can Kite and CC and blink and ice block out of CC. Locks can chain CC and get procs etc from being attacked. Priest get nothing but just have to face tank it.
- If your running a 5 man at the required gear level for the entire team, the priest will always be behind in meters because by the time he is able to start pumping numbers, the mobs are already dead by everyone else. So the priest looks bad by comparison and thus why it has a negative stigma.
Those are just a short list of issues of WHY void form in its current âIdentityâ as a âRamp upâ mechanic just doesnât work in the game. Any number tuning will either make the ramp to long and thus be broken or too short and thus be OP. There is no middle ground because there is no hard cap.
Gotta remember that the forums, no matter what, are a very small minority of players. Doesnât matter what opinions are being shared on the forums, or how many likes those opinions get. Itâs still a very small minority of players. Most players, and this is a fact, do not use the forums at all, let alone post in them.
Also gotta remember that folks are more inclined to comment about something they donât like, than they are about something they do. Thatâs why we have so many negative threads compared to positive ones.
I think they wanted Shadow Priests to have more depth than the vanilla/BC version. I would have to agree that it doesnât feel good though. It has to be fun, more cowbell might be needed.
Shadow priest in general needs either a rework or to be replaced because rn itâs basically a 2 dollar shop Warlock
Look at the top level class representation. Prior to Legion, Priests were in the top 1/2 of top level class population.
Now they are dead least. They are lower then Monk. Keep in mind that Monk had no short cut to leveling like DK or DH did. So its quite telling that the Monk class (with its fair share of issues) that was brought in nearly a decade after the initial classes has now out shinned priests in class representation. Priests have been hemorrhaging players for a while now and Void Form is not the only contributor as its healing specs have major issues as well but it is a MAJOR component to the hemorrhaging.
#RemoveVoidform
Source please?
Please delete voidform.
I donât consider it a necro if the last post is within a week or whatever personally. What honestly NEEDS to happen is Blizzard needs to put together more megathreads to consolidate the multiple posts on the front page saying the exact same thing.
Boy do I have a warlock spec to sell you.
âSo the Malefic Rapture style was just normal Affliction via keeping dots up, using unstable affliction, shadowbolt/drain, etc⊠But also throwing Malefic Raptures as able.â
same goes for yall.
Shadow should still use mana. Insanity should be the thing they remove. Make void form a standard 2 minute cooldown ability.
#remove void formâŠ
You present no evidence backing your position that Voidform is fine.
We have the overwhelming backing of:
- Every major alpha streamer
- Every Shadow guide author and theorycrafter
- Every notable Spriest, with the exception of Nyelle
- Polls on MMO-Champion and the WoW reddit
- The priest discord
- The WoW reddit
- The official priest forums
- The MMO-Champion forums
You are making two baseless assumptions, that a reporting bias exists, and that a supporting population exists.
Donât worry though, this is easy to fix. You can gather your own evidence. Log into WoW. Type â/who Priest 120â, ask them how they feel about Voidform, and tally supporters versus opposition. Gather 1000 responses and report back.
Or, concede that you are wrong.
vocal minority is always louder also you most people dont follow those stuff only 5% of the people who play shadowpriests yall are in a box denying everything outside of it .
