Remove vigor from Skyriding

I know this has been discussed before, but I figure I’d bring it up again with TWW having been released. I understand the original implementation with vigor as part of a whole flying talent system in Dragonflight to make it feel like you were “leveling up” your flying for a better experience. However, the reality turned out to be players rushing to get all their glyphs asap so they could have an ejoyable riding experience moving forward.

And now with TWW released and Dragon riding “growing up” as an evergreen feature, I think it’s time to remove vigor. Just let us flap to our heart’s content. Outside of the racing, vigor really serves no meaningful purpose except to be annoying in those situations where you run out of it. Maybe just keep it around as a challenge tool for the racing?

In doing so, you can prune the talents a bit and perhaps give us more interesting choices on how we can fly…like a quick turnaround skill or a circling “hover” mode that also allows us to peer downward.

Overall, the flying part is fun, the vigor is not. Just remove it already.

It has…? If so that topic long gone because the idea sounds terrible.

This is a skill issue.

Vigor is fine. I don’t even run out when flying. But it’s also needed to keep skyriding from being brain dead.

Without wasting vigor, I find it nearly impossible to run out. Especially with that 3 charge ability.

yea we need a kamikaze ability that instakills all players and mobs it hits

get skill and learn to vigor

It’s what makes Skyriding a PITA and why so many hate it and prefer static.

I don’t mind vigor but mechancally i dont see why it has to exist either.

Not really a challenge to keep vigor up but just annoying when you go from a to b too fast. Like when you want to zoom from objective to objective during a quest.

I didn’t even know it was possible to run out of vigor

While I dont mind the vigor management, it does seem pretty pointless.
Those of us who have no problem with it, dont notice it, and the ones having trouble with it seem to also be having trouble with skyriding in general, so its just an annoyance that doesnt really need to be there.

IF flight needs to be ‘challenging’, then skyriding itself is enough, it doesnt need the extra vigor thing going on too.

And we all know that, but expect the abject apathy in here to always come back with “git gud” instead of having some actual empathy for a fellow human being.

If you run out of vigor so much that it gets in your way you need to git gud.

When you take off just keep hitting vigor until you hit the ceiling and the point down to your destination.

I agree with what your are saying but there is this work around until something else.

People complaining that because of flying we aren’t enjoying the maps enough and now you want to go full ballistic in a mount all the time?

…. This is a problem … ?

Use ground mounts then.

That’s not why Vigor exists.

Therein lies the reason for Vigor: you’re supposed to pay attention to your flying and be mindful of your actions with it.

If you want static flying, it’s there for you. Dynamic comes with Vigor.

That would go against the game design.

Why would they remove vigor? You are only asking because you are not able to mine and herb on your dragon mount.

That is when you switch to normal mode.

They won’t remove vigour for this very reason.

The whole part that makes Skyriding what it is, is the vigor and knowing how to manage it. The vast majority of players have no issue in knowing how to use and manage the use of their vigor and remain air born the whole time anytime they want to.

Also the whole hover thing needs to be killed in all flights, even though skyriding does have a short hover before you drop like a rock. and I think it even gives you back some of your vigor when you use it to hit the breaks.
