So just rework the entire way hunters do DPS in sod? Remove the one mechanic that makes the rotation engaging/exciting?

Nah. The way traps work without launcher is completely antithetical to being a ranged class. Hell, in regular vanilla you couldn’t even use them in combat (without blowing your feign CD and hoping it didn’t glitch out), making them even more useless.

honestly i think its more an issue of cd rather than dmg/capability. Traps should probably not do that kind of damage and be on a 9 sec cd.

Trap Launcher was fine in Phase 3, I don’t remember people complaining about it.

The issue is the Resourcefulness rune more than anything, I expected a nerf the minute I saw that rune and starting using it, I could suddently solo jail break, which I did before the nerf.

Remember, traps used to have a 30sec cooldown + 1 trap at a time back in original Vanilla, SoD dropped them to 15sec + can lay more than one trap which was already very good, then that rune came up and now it’s overkill and spammy, it’s stupid. They should revert the nerf to frost trap so it can be launched again and nerf the cooldown instead (or change the rune completely).

disable it in BGs problem solved. or nerf it for hunters boosting BRD

15 second cd. Feign had a 30 sec cd which was what allowed them to be dropped in combat. They did not increase the CD of traps to 30 until BC. The issue is that AV and BRM happened which made people cry about it

Trap launcher does not bother me.

The efficacy of trap for how cheap it is and how easy it is to use. I recommend 2 things:

  1. Reduce the initial damage of Explosive trap by reducing the Melee Attackpower gain from 50% to 20%. This does not change the rotation of hunter however it does reduce their capacity to deal so much instant area of effect damage.
  2. Make trap launcher work like Multi-Shot in using “weapon speed” cast time. It does not have a cast bar and so cannot be interrupted but would not be something useable while moving.

Feign Death is the most effective spell interrupt in the game in PvP. It cannot be resisted by players in my experience.

I’ve seen plenty of complaints about trap launcher during this time, especially for bloodmoons. It’s more common now since AV is out. Traps were already super oppresive even without trap launcher, blizz should of never added this rune. Or at least give it a cast time instead of making it instant.

Remove Trap Launcher and LocknLoad.

Nerf trap numbers by about half.
Melee hunters are basically trappers at the point,
While ranged hunters are throwing traps every 9 seconds as part of their rotation.

Traps should be an ability for melee/melee weave hunters only. They come from our melee tree anyway(survival). While also not being 80% of our damage output. They need to be toned WAY down. Buff Mongoose and Raptor Strike. (revert Raptor strike)

Marksmen/Ranged hunters can return to playing ranged shooting bows n guns.

Trap Launcher and LocknLoad are the worst runes all of SOD.
They completely define the hunter class at the moment and Hunter is definitely not fun this phase. You literally cannot play melee against Rag without giving your healers a hard time because >hitboxes.

Genuinely believe Hunter would be better off without these two runes entirely.

Resourcefulness obviously takes these 2 runes over the edge and should be removed too.

I just want to play hunter again.
P2+P3 hunter was so great and only needed minor changes to be improved upon.

After 20 years of playing hunter, phase 4 actually pushed me to the point of rerolling a different class to raid with because hunter feels so terrible to play in MC.

don’t entertain him. i can’t tell if hes trolling but he won’t give up arguing despite being hilariously wrong about everything. i flagged him anyways. like the guy was talking about using shadow protection pots against spriests. not worth it.

Don’t worry level 17 Dwarf Hunter. You don’t have to worry about fighting people that have Trap Launcher for a while.

I’m guessing you haven’t actually raided as a Ranged Hunter if you think Traps are 80% of our damage. Are you trying to say being really OP against trash packs is a big deal?

Because Trap damage is abysmal against raid bosses, even if half of them did hit. The vast majority of your overall against bosses is auto > chimera > aimed

It’s really only effective in 1v1

I think they should just remove all the runes. Too much utility in this game now
