If you remove the stress that the timer brings, I promise you will see more tanks. Just make mobs hit harder, have more health, and add more elements, just like you do in delves. Remove that timer and more tanks will sign up for M+.

Blizzard is all about engagement numbers. If they really wanted to do their job well, they would keep the M+ timer, but make it so that if you beat the dungeon within the time limit you got no rewards, and you had to spend enough time in the dungeon for the timer to completely run out before you got any loot or having it count towards vault.
There has been a tank shortage since vanilla. This isnât an M+ issue.

M+ is the timer.

In raids itâs balanced to be pass fail on hard bosses. You wipe and wipe until you have the gear and mechanics to pass.
In M+ itâs the timer. You need the performance and mechanics to do X amount of damage in Y amount of time.
You already have m+ without timers, theyâre called dungeons. So Iâm going to guess what youâre really asking for is to be able to get M+ rewards without the M+ challenge.
Get people to stop bashing and insulting tanks, they will show up more.

So Iâve been addicted to tanking most of the time Iâve played. Itâs never been the timer for myself or any other tank I know.
I think the difference in âfunâ happened for me between DF and TWW. It is largely back but in emergency situations (aka people not interrupting or the healer not healing) it feels a lot more dire.

S1 Guardian Druid: Despite being perceived as a bad class because of how weak it was to magic damage, in everything else it was immune and could keep the party alive with how strong âThrough the wildfireâ was and Regrowth felt like a lay on hands with the proc.
S2: Didnât tank much but when I did Arcane bear OP (with the above perks).
S3: I know DH was the play but by far and away loved DK.
Fyraâlath + both Fyrakk trinkets = oof best tanking experience ever. Very high damage with a tank mit that deals more damage when it breaks?? Tell me that you love me blizz.
*S4: * Essentially a repeat of S3 but also with more trinket options. Rough party? Take a tank trinket. Know one person will die more? Everyone takes manic grief torch then. It was fun.
Start of TWW: Less damage and less survivability. There was zero sell for tanks. Now that we have basically overgeared the tank nerf Protection Paladin is feeling kinda fun but you know itâs gonna be hit again because people are enjoying it. In a group of people with the same skill level it would be 80% of a DPS (see YodaTV or the other top prots) apparently this is too much and we got hit last week. Weâre gonna get hit again (for a 50% reduction in refining fire) coming week.
why would we add timers for mythic raiding? mythic raiding is a lot harder and adding a timer would be extremely frustrating and worthless, itâs like youâre trying to turn them into a level system where the title of âmythic raidingâ would be an m0 and then mythric reading 2 would be a lot harder and so fourht

More players = more tanks. When a player count only goes in a downward direction we get what we have now.
M0s are no where near as difficult as Mythic RaidingâŚI would put it on the same level Heroic Raiding at the most but definitely no MythicâŚ
Iâm not sure if you were around for vanilla, but it was so bad that tanks used to advertise their services and charged people for doing dungeons. I donât see a lot of that now.

when arnt they complaining? literally its the influencers jobs to complain so they get clicks. that said removing the time would kill m+ and just turn it into a mini raid which is just bad.
The problem isnât the timer . Itâs whoeverâs dumb idea it was to cator to the 0.1% of the M+ bracket . (Mind you Iâm 3k rated). So I know what Iâm talking about .
Right now for tanking if ur not a Prot pally you donât exist. Blizz has them so overturned itâs insane
But 15s death timer loss? Yeh I love the idea of forcing people to play better to time keys , but all this did was nuke the M+ player base over by half .
80% stuck at level 10s wonât go above . 10% doing 11s, 7% doinf 12s and or capable and only 3% are doing 13+.
Another issue is this atrocious class balancing . As always the only specs you see up top is Mages , Prot pallies , Rets, (for once shamen) The good player locks and Dks . All other specs and classes are very very underrepresented cause blizzard tuned them to badly to handle higher then 10s.
And finally the biggest issue is the MDI and lasting affect it leaves on the player base . People watching the MDI participants pulling entire dungeons on 9s and lower utilizing certain comps and classes. This in turn creates a meta for higher keys . If your not an MDI represented class or spec you wonât get invited . People canât time keys cause they think they have to do MDI strats.
