Remove the wow token and make the game a premium MMO again

You do know that I don’t have to try and help you?

Yes, I’m just saying that callings gives roughly 2k per one, and a lot of our mats isn’t worth much. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just stating that my realm farming mats isn’t a way to make gold.

I will however hop over to that thread to check some stuff in there thank you for the link of it

That title alone is worth an immediate like!

Well said! I loved every word of it!

I don’t think people remember how scammy and spammy the game was with gold sellers prior to the token.

It also led to an extreme amount of players getting scammed. Of course it wasn’t they were buying gold it was ALWAYS, ‘I got hacked’

So much wasted time looking into and restoring guild banks, toons, etc.

That’ll be +1 Win for Lost Ark.
Certainly a microtransaction store in a 100% subscription-based game would be utterly hilarious.

One additional hilarious thing, someone paying $15.00 USD a month to sit AFK in a capital city with nothing to do bicker with a toxic community in Trade Chat.

That’s what EverQuest did before it fell apart. Honestly, more people would play free to play WoW with pay to win mechanics, because gaming is notoriously a value market.

Honestly, what WoW did right to “kill” former giants was Questing and the task-based leveling experience. But with their fast lanes and focus on seasonal cycles, the net effect of seventeen years of development rendered even Questing a “chore”. Unfortunately, the game is already dead because the environment is no longer high fantasy but instead taken over by competitive expression – Arena tournament, RWF, MDI…

As long as the community they promote and encourage is the sportsfan gamer, no amount of monetization model changes will impact the culture in game. They tried at the start of Shadowlands to promote more high fantasy, but because covenants sucked the life out of classes, they refused to place much needed attention on class-based niche, and they took so long to fix AoE cap and basic systems like conduit energy, I think they look at their efforts toward high fantasy as a failure… And that’s a shame.

Getting Sorrowbane as a BiS weapon on my warrior early expansion (before M+ undermined it) was hands-down one of the best Shadowlands experiences I had. And because it doesn’t keep pace with the arbitrary difficulty sliders or the caustic ranking structures for player power, it goes completely hidden away as a gem most players won’t get to experience.

Or we could not do that instead.

This impression that everyone ran their content and no one paid for carries in the olden days is extremely naive. It still happened, just in the shadows and with the risk of people having their accounts stolen.

They also have been in TBCC to see how people make money legit these days.

Some even charge the noobs for basic crap like stockade/rfc. That is jsut wrong. I have more than once carried some “for free”. My terms simple for my “payment”. My leveling hunter needs wool for first aid leveling. So wool is mine. If a BOE dagger drops…I need it for the hunter (my stockade farmer is a boostie girl rogue lol).

Rest of the run…if I take 2 people they fight over the drops lol. Even opt out of bops. the boosted rogue doesn’t need them. And I now the pain of being new…hook the new peeps up my thing.

People whine about paid carries for mythic? hahahahaha, not in a guild you will see 20 paid Ramparts ads, normal even, before you see a free one.

Lacking easy gold, tbcc players found ways. they nickel and dime what I’d deem basic services retail gives for free atm. No token retail? this is its future. X gold for basic crap.

I do miss the clever corpse advertisements.

That didn’t start until what? Cata? Or was it WotLK?

I don’t play anything classic having been there/done that a decade+ ago, but that’s freaking heinous!! Why anyone would waste time selling carries in anything classic or why there is a market for it, when there wasn’t back then, is beyond me. If the nature of classic(s) is to play it like retail then I am not missing much. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

why I have not been opposed to token even here. retail token one reason I stayed. I bought basic sundries that made old school leveling more tolerable when I came on board late legion. this game takes in players from others games. We have money there. its misssed on game change lol.

I was not liking come from eve with 10 billion easy in some way. Getting paid 9 copper…wasn’t cutting it. token at 220K…fixed that.

it not be to buy carries. to break the games. it be to enjoy the game.

It has lots of things to try. But…you are poor most of the time starting out, saving up for mount, etc so you don’t buy them.

even guides will say you try this “one day”. when you are level 70 and can go to the trainer and blow 10 gold not caring.

edit: why the boostie. she makes money easier…alt(s) spend it as I try things out.

Since that existed long, long before the token how do you suggest they do that? Susan Express is still there waiting, quietly in the shadows to take your real life cash (and account if she can get her icy fingers on it) for gold.

This is the fun for me. This expansion, in the doldrums before flight, I made my first alliance to max lvl. Had nothing! Was like starting anew and what a blast! It didn’t take me long at all having played for so long, but in the ‘gotta earn it because I can’t mail it’ portion, so fun!!

I’m not opposed to tokens myself, never bought one, but can absolutely see the value of them being in game. As fun as it was to earn everything, there were moments, when I thought I should just buy one to speed things up.

In the end, I knew it would only be a matter of time before my being alliance would ruin it for everyone (or help depending on how you view it).
Told my friends years ago that I would ruin it all if I decided to make an alliance toon. They laughed, they called me a fool…so I made one in SL. Now the alliance horde divide is falling, mailing items to toons in other factions will be a thing. Who’s laughing now?!!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Blizz makes too much money from the token to get rid of it.

Unless Blizzard takes more direct action against the sale of such services for RL cash thru discord or third party web sites, banning the token won’t matter that much. It will just make such activities move back underground again, but they will continue just the same.

And how people would all afk overtop to obscure them.

I remember signs made from floating corpses in SW so that would have been either Vanilla or Cata.

I don’t miss grinding leather or spending hours fishing to make enough gold to raid. I’d rather buy a token every now and again, thanks.
