Let’s see. While questing in Zanadalar you save their king’s life multiple times, help them in skirmishes, help their empire ascend, break out their princess from prison, do a bunch of mundane errands for the princess and countless other activities. But you’re telling me that I can’t unlock their race (a reskinned night elf) until I do a rep grind? Or should I say time sink? Why is this a thing. It’s a total outrage that you expect players to waste weeks doing a rep grind for EVERY allied race (oh what a coincidence, our subs renew every 4 weeks)
I mean let’s be honest here. The developers took shortcuts with creating many of these allied races. Poor Nightborne are a BIG example. Why can’t the players get a break with obtaining them?
Remove the rep grind from allied races. At the very least make it so that you have to do their quest lines only. If someone does everything that they’ve done for Zandalar they shouldn’t have the clean up Dino crap for weeks just to unlock them.
EDIT: I’m just going to leave this here for all the people attacking me for my suggestion:
They should have created a better lore/background quest area like TBC and Cata/MoP
“Allied races” has nothing for new players and is short-sighted on Blizzard’s part. They show them on character selection but then tie them to expansions that are aging every day.
It’s silly and bereft of a vision for the future of the game. Like stabbing Silithus.
It’s so ridiculous. It’s painfully obvious how lazily done most of these races are. Some of them don’t have any customization. Others have been glitching since they’ve been released with still no fix. Some are just plain ugly, and some are literally their original race with some paint splashed on to them. And yet they expect players to waste weeks, even months to unlock them?
If they are so ugly and glitchy, why would people want one? You guys need to pick a side: Either they are something you want NOW and the fact that you must earn them is problematic or They are something horrible looking in which case you shouldn’t want them at all. It can’t be both.
It’s not a toy. The orb of deception is a toy. Barov peasant caller is a toy. Xmogs are a toy.
The fact that you and everyone else that thinks this way is getting any kind of traction in this game is insanity. (IMO of course.)
You’re supposed to choose a race and use it as a vehicle to experience the world.
Races aren’t xmogs. That they’re being treated as lightly as cosmetic afterthoughts shows you what the Devs think of their game, and the confidence they don’t have in their own future.
So, because you are incapable of doing what everyone else has been able to accomplish to unlock these races…you need them. I agree, why the hell not. It only makes sense. Something for nothing, I don’t want to put the time in but I deserve it, I am special…etc. I almost threw up in my mouth typing that. WHY? Because you people deserve nothing when so many have put forth the effort to accomplish way more than you. It probably the same way in real life.
Ey mon. Get ta work on unlockin ya allied races. It ain’t dat hard.
Seriously though, there’s already another thread where someone is whining about this. Y’all really gotta sit here and spam the forums over something most of us had done within a couple of months just casually playing?
No, not a troll. You look a lot like one though. Butthurt because the truth hurts. Say what you want but, it you have not put in the time to unlock what everyone else has…you do not deserve to play them…
No no no, don’t get me wrong, that’s fine. I play a Zandalari because I adore their lore and how they look. I’m just saying that races don’t impact classes that much.
What truth? that you did 100 more world quests than me?
Well if you had any reading comprehension you would understand the post wasn’t necessarily about the grind, but why is there even a grind in the first place to unlock a race.
Why is blizzard adding pointless time gating reps to unlock races? Where did this idea come from?
