Remove the Draconian Level 50 Group Finder Requirement

Now that auth+SMS Protect requirements are in place, remove the level 50 requirement since auth+sms is now in place.

Trying to group up below level 50 is an awful experience and it’s time to remove this archaic restriction. It’s especially bad when trying to group up for 17th anniversary bosses.

Don’t wait until 9.2 to do it - hotfix it now.

Blame the bots and boosters

Your own playerbase is to blame for that. It was filled with ads. So the rest of us got screwed. Have fun trying to kill those elites for lowbie quests without a group.

Wasn’t this just added in Shadowlands? That’s hardly “archaic”

Which is now mitigated by auth+sms. The level 50 requirement is now entirely pointless and is only hurting players.

Yea it is a bit stupid. Now newbies have no choice but to post in newcomer chat in the hope that one of us guides happen to see their plea for help and have the time to join them to one shot whatever elite mob they’re trying to kill. Ironically BfA (the expac they’re forced into) is filled with elite group quests and hard to kill rares far more so than in older expacs.

And it was also the player base that demanded that Blizz do something to fix it.

Short of banning players for providing a service to other players…I personally can’t think of a better solution that wouldn’t have caused similar negative side effects

And us vet players can’t even use newbie chat, so we’re just screwed.

Why can’t you use newbie chat? You likely meet the requirements to sign up as a guide.

No idea. I don’t even know what the requirements are. And does that make it account wide or just for that character?

It’s per character. I joined the system during bfa. I vaguely recall blizz making it easier to join in SL.

Then that doesn’t much help me for new lowbie characters who need to do those group quests and have no way to find people.

Here’s the WoWhead article. It’s a bit old so stuff may have changed

But as I said, that doesn’t help me on lowbie characters that need groups for elite quests.

I agree. It really should be an account wide channel to net as many online guides as possible. So if you’re on your level 10 alt, you can see the question or call for help, hop onto a level 60 and help them out.

Blizz seemed to be under the impression that you need to be a high end raider or pvp or m+ pusher to be an “guide” and therefore be allowed to engage with a toon. When in reality all that the channel is ever used for is /wave to Gor’groth and helping newbies kill elites or answer navigation/UI questions.

Came for dragons.

Will just get a flood of adds in LFG again.

The level 50 requirements is what really cut those down.

It didn’t. Otherwise they wouldn’t have put the authenticator req after.

Bear tank with resto affinity scoffs at them, but really, it’s the only one that does and you gotta be MAD CAREFUL to ONLY get the boss thing

Before the level requirements it was getting to the point that more than half the M+ runs were adds. Since they added the level requirements its been about 2-6 adds whenever you look. What hasn’t appeared to have much of an effect is the authentication requirements.

Now it could be that either system would work and they only need one and why it looks like the level requirements worked better is just that it was first. But my guess is probably not because it’s that the investment required to level a throw away account to be an add bot is significantly more then the investment in getting it authenticated.
