Whats a real spec? Healers can shield and absorb, Paladins can have multiple absorbs, Rogues can Dodge and smoke screen, Vanish, Hunters can turtle…

Tank spec is PvP on training wheels . Play a DPS. The extra damage is to compensate for your extra health and extra defenses .
Don’t want to be one of the people that just say ‘get good’ but i play a tank 99% of the time and when people gank me, they die 90% of the time. Only a few people have 1v1’d me in world pvp.
I want to play as my tank class, even if they removed the extra damage I would still die in seconds!
Maybe Prot warrior is weak … but Prot Pally is super strong right now and I still have nightmares about 1 m plus hp guardian tanks from end of BFA who would not die with even 3 DPS on them .

Rogues and Destro Locks have been as durable as tanks while wielding 3 times the offense and twice as much control. You don’t get to talk about “real specs”.

Ironically rich. It is a shame that players coerce certain specializations through passive-aggressive negative insinuations. It is complacently fine when people don’t want them in arena - but excluding them from Battlegrounds is detrimental.
Meh, I just ran some quick lfg r arenas with a random lock and went 7-3. No shame.

Tank specs can play in PVP in every other MMO. WOW players seem to think that’s an odd concept, and Blizzard don’t value tanks in PVP either really.
PVP tanks were welcomed in Cata. They were highly wanted in RBGs and normal BGs.
Some tanks have historically been able to pump DPS while having good survivability while others have always been purely defensive in nature.
My take is that BlizZard needs to allow tanks to take over the rolls of protecting teammates and tanking damage like other PVP MMORPGs.
Right now the healers are supposed to tank damage and protect others but even that design paradigm is not working anymore.

I agree, its bad. Tanks should be able to protect their teammates, tank damage, and disrupt the enemy team. They cannot do any of that right now.
PLayed some BGs yesterday, Shadow Priest was being beaten on by 3 players she just tanked the damage, Resto Druid would not die, Warlock had more HP then me, and was being beaten on by 2 players for what seemed to be 5 mins.
But Prot Warrior takes 50% more damage because its hard to kill? Ridiculous!
I literally get maybe 20 seconds to try and help me team and fall over.
