We already pay for the expac. Why is sub a requirement to play? How about making sub similar to ESO and like it just gives extra benefits like the trading post and more like extra backpack space etc?

how so? were people in classic posting 3rd party services and advertising in M+ selling gold/carries for irl money. they didn’t do much for quite a LONG… time. hell i’ve reported the same player for hacking in classic only to find them days later still hacking.

They have 700 people working on Wow, according to some estimates now. (I’m sure it’s QA and other roles).
You want to fund that with optional microtransactions? Didn’t EQ2 just get in hot water for charging people to remove raid loot timers for a fee. Just how complex do you think they will get if this goes free to play? It’s going to get pretty crazy, we’ve seen nothing yet for microtransactions.

I am kind of in favor of it being set up like ESO. Pay for a sub and get some perks, vs do not pay for a sub and only have base stuff. Like bank slots, bag slots, slower mounts, that kind of stuff.
Like, if I’m ok paying a monthly fee than I should get some perks out of it, if I choose not to than I get nothing but just the base F2P game.

I kind of feel like we are headed in that direction with Wow going F2P with microtransactions if say we have another hiccup of an expansion after DF. I do not want a F2P and do not mind paying for a sub. I pay for my wife and three boys now for the 12 month subs.
I mean, Wow is already P2P with micro transactions. So… idk. I don’t see them changing any time soon.
