Ashran is the one that most often results in good PvP battles, but the last 3 games I’ve played all resulted in a back door kill of the Horde boss with zero players defending. It’s just silly.
If you cant find pvp in AV youre probably not playing defense. Being part of the problem afking in the enemy base wondering why this “PvE” mode exists.
The problem I have with these BGs, is never being able to get out of combat, it’s hell as a caster or especially healer. I’m levelling a night elf now, just for shadowmeld and the ability to actually get out of combat.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on a team that’s done this in Ashran, but if I remember correctly, my team needed scrolls of protection first before we could do this. Did something change and the enemy general is weaker now?
As for the rest of your points, I disagree to an extent. I am always in PvP while in Epics, but it’s because of the way that I play. I cap towers, I back cap enemy towers. I kill glaives or defend glaives.
I do however see tons of players who are totally content rushing to Van or Galv and just sitting there with 0 damage done or 0 healing done just waiting for the towers that someone else is claiming to fall. Or players that will rush to Hangar, fight 2 or 3 enemies and then just sit there the whole game until the gates are down. These epics are very much what you put into them.
It’s not the NPCs that are the problem. Look at the 4 epic BGs and the one with the most worthwhile player combat also has the most worthwhile NPCs: Ashran.
You can get some combat in AV but it’s mostly standing around a tower waiting for it to cap, then killing the boss.
Isle of Conquest and Wintergrasp are both heavily vehicle focused. There can be some PvP combat if you’re defending your base from people running bombs or defending the glaives, but otherwise it’s not really much PvP there.
NPCs in epic battlegrounds can be a good thing if they are fought over or used to help push into an enemy team, like they are in Ashran and like they used to be in AV back when people still summoned NPCs. It’s a lot of fun to defend your mage or push in with your elemental lord in Ashran as you see a lot of player combat then. It’s boring to sit in a tower for 5 minutes or spam click in a glaive.
