So I started my Chromie time out in Legion and here I am able to happily pick legion herbs at level 10. I can learn Alchemy at level 10. I can get quests that ask me to make X or Y potion but then when I go to make that potion to complete the quest I was given I am told that I need to wait until level 40 before I can make the most basic Legion Potions?
It’s obvious that after the level squish you need to look into finally overhauling the profession system so it actually makes sense with the new level squish.
Picking herbs and being able to make potions with those herbs you picked is the most basic profession mechanic you have and now I can’t even do that for 30+ levels?!
Please take another look at these systems once Shadowlands launches. You are so close to have a leveling experience that makes sense for the first time in 15 years, please don’t stop short.

It’s not level 40 to do regeants, it is a skill of 40 in that profession. Which is too high anyways considering most professions in the older content only have 75 skill points. Skill level 40 in BFA that goes to 175 is completely different than a skill that maxes out at 75.
Yeah I thought I had certain items bugged at first but why have the level restrictions on gear and food when you’re trying to encourage people to access the content equally? A lot of the stuff is auto-scaling to begin with too, so it’s not like that is an excuse, particularly with the food.
The best example of this utter nonsense is Northrend Alchemy. First potion you can make is easy enough to make, but level requirement on the skill lvl 1 potion (which I can make at lvl 10) is lvl 27.
Professions need a heavy overhaul to deal with the level squish and chromie time.
Tried to use a Stealthman 54 recently. Nothing happened. Was thinking “bug?” Nope. It now has a level restriction. How does this make any kind of sense. Who was sitting in a design meeting and broached the idea of level restrictions on long standing/existing convenience items?
It wouldn’t be so bad if there was a coming replacement, but, nope. Another item bites the dust.
Less is more, right? I swear to god it feels at times like they are trying to kill the game.
Yeah yeah, I know I plenty of people will think I’m going a bit overboard but I can’t help thinking “death by a thousand cuts”.
I’ll add to this with the relics of the past: they’re meant to change the level of items you craft so you can actually use them, right?
Well you can’t use them until you level up your profession to 40 - which means crafting items way above your level before you can craft items at your level… huh?!
Needs more love!
which all SHOULD have been done before prepatch was released.
again we get to be beta testors on live.
Exactly, crafting should now default to a base level 10-15 gear and then use Relics to raise them higher, not lower the gear when you can’t even use it since you need to reach skill 40.
