Being able to avoid world pvp on a pvp server alone is justification enough to remove layering asap (as soon as it’s feasible), let alone other issues.
I doubt it, also those servers would crash so hard if that was the case because of the starting areas being 5 times worse then on launch day if you were right.
To be fair, Honorable Kills will not be implemented until after Phase 1. So you aren’t missing much, I’ve seen pvp servers with horde and alliance not killing each other because they are busy leveling. Even when there are a bunch in the same zone. Only exception is chests.
Also without layering the ques day week 1 would have been far worse than they were.
Great - if they are popular, start up the ques. If they are not overcrowded that works too.
I don’t think the honor system is really a necessary component to enjoy world pvp. A lot of people enjoy it as an aspect of making leveling fun!
But don’t get me wrong I think layering was very essential to launch. I think each passing day it’s less and less important and I look forward to it’s removal.
Posting on my classic character so you can see my level bracket. But I’m in STV right now, do you know how crowded it is in STV? It’s almost as bad as day 1 where I’m sitting on a spawn point for a panther or tiger to wack it to kill it.
Without layering it would be FAR worse.
We need layering until Phase 2, and for extra protection limit layering in the small starting zones like northshire (not the entire elwyn forest).
People dont want to be in 5 hour queues.
Agree-just don’t think you would see five hour ques on a fresh server at this point. The tourists and hardcore guilds have their homes.
Hypothetically if you were right and thousands of players were waiting for no layering and a non layering server opened up I have no doubts there would be a long queue.
I think you would have healthy vanilla-like server pops. with some ques at this point. 6 hours seems way high though.
If it’s needed for now I’m ok with it, I just want to voice my opinion that I’d like it removed as soon as it’s possibly feasible.
Since it’ll likely be lifted for all servers simultaneously, this means a little compromise where slower servers will have to hang on a bit longer and oveepop servers may have to deal with crowding for a bit.
have you checked how many people are actually in zones atm? with increased server capacity beyond what was already vastly beyond vanilla servers, we’d still have zones packed like day 1 of classic launch. from what i can tell, it would be even more than that.
i’m not a fan of layers but this would be absolutely ridiculous.
The ironic part is, months after they remove layering people will be posting about their nostalgia with it. While I personally would like layering removed, a lot of people will always ask for what they don’t currently have.
Tbh I wouldn’t even know about layering if I hadn’t read about it on the forums, every zone feels well populated (some over-populated even at the start), not sure I understand what big negative impact it’s causing to other players gaming experience, for me it’s really a non issue to the point that I don’t even notice it is implemented.
If some players were abusing it to get an unfair advantage then sure, that’s an exploit and shouldn’t be allowed, but tbh it still has no impact in my own experience, it makes no difference for me if the super hardcore managed to abuse it to get to max level one day faster or whatever.
If they removed the layering they would needs magnitudes more than “a few new servers”.
Real 2004 WoW vanilla had at most 20% of what my current Classic server has on it. Total madness trying to do anything.
At this point just spawn named mobs every 1 to 5 seconds and even then that may not cut it.
