Remove Kara Crypts Lockout

I think we have got far enough past Kara Crypts that it no longer needs to be a lockout, and it remaining a lockout creates friction points.

While Kara Crypts is no longer hard as most people out gear it, and the majority of people understand how to do it, it remaining a 1 day lockout means people aren’t willing to take risks.

One of those risks being taking new players in with them. If you are a well geared character, and going to Kara Crypts you either need a piece of gear from there (most likely Kaigy’s or Sairuh’s) or you are going for reals. People can’t take the risk of the group not clearing because you will not be able to find replacements.

This is also leads to the issue of the best items in there dropping from the first boss. I do know they made the change that whatever necklace boss you don’t fight at the start has a chance to drop from the last two bosses. The issue is many people who are forming these groups are only interested in their necklace and that will be the first boss fought, so any sight of friction in the group can cause them to just leave because the don’t have a stake in clearing it as they got their drop chance out of the way at the start.

Solutions:
Allow all necklaces to drop from the last 2-3 bosses no matter what boss you do at the start. This incentivizes people who are only in it for the first bosses necklace to continue for a second chance should the necklace not drop at the start.
AND/OR
Remove the daily lockout, so that if a group falls apart people can go again and are less concerned with someone not being in near full BiS. People may also be willing to join a group HRing the necklace they need because there is a chance that two will drop.

You could also increase the drop chance on the necklaces from the first bosses and lower the other items drop chance, since for people who want one of the other four items that drop from the necklace bosses it doesn’t matter which one you fight and those items usually never contested anyways. I am not particularly fond of this idea, as it doesn’t really fix the friction points, but I have heard people suggest it so I am mentioning it.

Karazhan Crypts is an awesome dungeon, and I think it was a good idea to be on a 1 day lockout at the start, but now that most people are past needing it I think we can just remove the lockout.

Edit: Someone brought up the concern of removing the lockout and thus incentivizing first boss farming groups and Blizzard might not want that. I personally don’t think it would be that big of a problem, but here is a solution I posted below that I moved up.

If you removed lockouts and didn’t want people to just kill the first boss and reset, just move all three necklaces to the last three bosses as an additional loot drop that has like a 30-40% chance to drop and then remove them from the apprentices. This would make it so you don’t affect the already existing drops you would normally get and now its just a chance to also get a necklace with the regular loot that drops. Increasing the drop chance from what I presume is a 20% drop rate from the Apprentices to 30-40% from last 3 bosses would be to account for people no longer being able to duo the first bosses for necklaces. Also, probably don’t put Kaigys or Sairuhs on the spider boss since rogues can solo it. Barians on Spider, Kaigy on Kharon, and Sairuh on Dark Rider.

It would probably help the problem of people leaving after the first boss since they could just join a farm group, but this is probably also the reason Bliz would never make the change. It was definitely poor design to have the necks drop off the first boss.

Would probably be weird why the named necklaces don’t drop from their named people, but they are in jail so you could just hand wave that they were taken away from the Apprentices upon being jailed.

I would be all for this change, it would address most of the issues with consistently forming groups for KC. Also you should still have to kill a prisoner to make the necks drop, so no reason to skip the encounter. Maybe killing the prisoner would give that neck a higher chance to drop.

Would be a big change to previous phase content tho, so I wouldn’t count on it.

Yeah there’s really no reason for it to have a lockout anymore.

I agree, I would think the lockout should be removed. With Scarlet Uniforms counting as Sanctified, it really robs KC of a lot of its relevance, so why not encourage more runs?

Yeah it honestly feels right now due to the lockout that instead of going:
Kara Crypts → Naxx
It is instead
Scarlet Gear → Naxx → Kara Crypts for the BiS pieces/ Prebis Scarlet Enclave Pieces.

The lockout has kind of made it backwards. It did help facilitate the mystery of Kara Crypts when it first came out since you only got one attempt a day to learn what you could. But now most people could probably draw you a map of where every mob is in the darkness. The mystery is gone, and it no longer needs a lockout.
